1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 5:57 PM
2. Roll Call
a. Board Members: Cynthia Chesak, Marie Parrish, Steve Miller, Robin Boland, Angie Gonzalez
• Virtual: Verna Seal
• Absent: Gerie Ventura,
b. Staff:
• City of Tukwila Staff: John Dunn, Recreation Superintendent
• King County Library System Staff: Mary Sue Houser, Regional Manager
3. Land Acknowledgement— Robin Boland read the land acknowledgement:
"The City of Tukwila is located on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people. We acknowledge their
continuing connections to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their elders past, present
and emerging."
4. Approval of Agenda and Minutes — April 2, 2024
a. Agenda: Cynthia Chesak motioned to approve the Agenda. Steve Miller seconded the motion;
all were in favor.
b. Minutes: Robin Boland motioned to approve the Minutes. Steve Miller seconded the motion; all
were in favor.
5. Public Comment: No public comments
6. Unfinished Business:
a. Little Libraries: John Dunn shared new information sheets were installed at all Little Libraries
and were restocked at the same time.
b. Book Club: Verna Seal shared information on the new Book Club she is leading for Parks &
Recreation.
7. New Business
a. Guest Speaker: Jo Anderson, City of Tukwila Inclusion and Engagement Manager shared about
the efforts the city is engaging in for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. She invited the board
members to a training on May 18 at the Justice Center.
b. Guest Speaker: Tony Cullerton, City of Tukwila Deputy Finance Director discussed the 2025-26
Budget process.

c. Parks & Recreation Web site presence —John Dunn shared the web site for the Arts Commission.
The board discussed ideas for creating a Tukwila Library Advisory Board page. There was
consensus to move forward with development of a page.
8. Reports
a. KCLS: Mary Sue Houser provided information for the Board regarding programs and services in
the county and Tukwila.
b. City of Tukwila: John Dunn provided an update on City and Parks and Recreation events,
programs and other information.
9. Reports of Board Members/Announcements
a. Angie Gonzalez shared the Foster High School Theater students are performing the spring
musical Percy Jackson. Shows will be May 24-26t" and invited the board to share and attend the
event.
10. Next Meeting: June 4, 2024to be held at Tukwila Library on International Blvd. There will be no Virtual
option due to the location change.
