1. Call to Order: LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: The City of Tukwila is located on the ancestral lands of the
Coast Salish people. We acknowledge their continuing connections to land, waters, and culture. We pay our
respect to their elders past, present and emerging.

11. Grant Application Process (Pat Bako)
Approved with amendments to be determined at July meeting. Amendments include:
• Tukwila Artist Grant should be a resident.
• Artist and Community Arts Group Support Grant: projects should be in the City of Tukwila.
12. Portrait Project (Sheila Coppola)
• Commissioners in attendance were in favor of the project. Commissioners committed to
completing the project survey created by Sheila to map out the details of the project.
13. Commissioner Reports (open discussion)
• Sheila Coppola: New Roots program has a mural project with the International Rescue
Committee. They need volunteers to paint their garden shed.
• Cynthia Chesak: Recently spoke with the Rainier Symphony. They would like our help in
elevating their community presence.

1. Attended the city -sponsored equity training. Found it to be informative and
recommends it to other commissioners.
2. Had a discussion with the firefighters at Station 54. They would like the TAC's
assistance with new art at the station. A statue currently in place does not reflect
the diversity of the community.
• Pinky Estell suggested developing a proposal for both the creation of a new
work accessing King County funds, as well as how the current piece will be
decommissioned.

o Michael May: will explore the donation of the grand piano to the Foster High School
Performing Arts Center.
