August 6, 2024 6:00pm Location: Tukwila Library, 14380 International Blvd.
1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:04 PM
2. Roll Call
a. Board Members: Cynthia Chesak, Genie Ventura, Verna Seal, Robin Boland
• Absent: Marie Parrish, Steve Miller, Angie Gonzalez
b. Staff:
• City of Tukwila Staff: John Dunn, Recreation Superintendent
3. Land Acknowledgement — Robin Boland read the land acknowledgement:

4. Approval of Agenda and Minutes — April 2, 2024
a. Agenda: Verna Seal motioned to approve the agenda. Cynthia Chesak seconded the motion to
approve the agenda; all were in favor.
b. Minutes: Robin Boland motioned to approve the agenda. Verna Seal seconded the motion; all
were in favor.

a. Meeting with new KCLS director on Sept. 4 in Maple Valley. John Dunn will send via email the
meeting details for the board to attend if they wish. This will not be an official meeting or
required.
8. Staff Reports
a. KCLS: Staff were unable to attend the meeting but provided a printout of the upcoming activities
at the library.
b. City of Tukwila: John Dunn provided an update on City and Parks and Recreation events,
programs and other information.
9. Reports of Board Members/Announcements
a. Board members discussed potential work with Recreation to sponsor speakers for events
including Fall Carnival, late night and other events.

a. Agenda Items:
i. Ask for Guest speaker from Finance to discuss parameters around allowable spending by
the board.
