MINUTES
September 11th, 2024 5:30pm Tukwila Community Center
Call to Order: Commissioner Sean Albert called the meeting to order at 5:33 pm.
Attendance: Commissioners —Sean Albert, Gina Bernhardt -Nielsen, Roby Snow, and Joe Camacho
Staff —Matthew Austin
Other: Dough Hodson, Keith Bates, Lindsay Martin

Special Presentations:
King County Parks Levy, King County DPNR — Dough Hodson
Trail Planning update, OTAK — Keith Bates, Lindsay Martin
Citizen Comment: None
Business Items:
a) King County Parks Levy Update on renewal process, Dough Hodson
a. Doug spoke about the levy process, the history behind it, and purpose.
b) OTAK, (Keith Bates, Lindsay Martin) Keith and Lindsay spoke about the work they have done up
to this point for the parks department as well as trail planning standards they are developing.
They provided the condition assessments of the numbered trail system.
c) Q2 update (Matthew) Matthew provided an update on projects as well as state of the parks
related to maintenance.
d) Director report — not provided Kris was not present
e) Park and Playground Master planning review and Q/A
a. Duwamish, commissioners expressed some concern over the turf field, commissioners
expressed appreciation for the addition of trees, as well as the perimeter path.
b. 116th,
i. Commissioners expressed a desire for a higher level of native plantings within
the setting.
ii. Commissioner Snow identified that the flow of the pathway may increase the
possibility of collisions between bikers and pedestrian traffic. He identified how
there could be a better flow to the layout.
iii. Commission Camacho, and Bernhardt -Nielsen identified that there did not seem
to be enough of a focus on plantings.
1. It was identified that this would be the initial phase of the park, with the
intention of creating a restoration site similar to friends of the hill or
some other volunteer type group to focus on the native plantings.
c. Commissioners requested that the folders be placed in a drive for them to review with
the most up to date documents being available.
