What's new in the TE?
• Multimodal level of service policies (focus on active
transportation)
• Increased emphasis on equity and safety (outreach, policies,
projects)
• Coordination with Local Road Safety Plan in progress
• Consideration of multiple ways to address congestion (E.g.
Southcenter)
• Updated transit strategies (E.g. Metro Flex)
Questions from the August meetings
• How is maintenance covered by the plan?
• How can this plan help get improvements to transit in Tukwila?
• New RapidRide to Tukwila
• How can the Council shape frequent transit in the future?
• How can the City support first -last mile connections for transit?
• What is the City's vision for parking near light rail?

Investment in Multimodal
Projects
• The plan leverages multimodal level of service policies to
identify projects that fill gaps in each modal network
• Based on the work we've done, we recommend the City
prioritize the top 35 projects. Most projects on the
complete list of needs are multimodal (not just for cars).
Future Vehicle Congestion
• Community outreach indicated a
stronger interest in multimodal
connections as compared to vehicle
capacity to address congestion
• We recommend addressing future
congestion through intersection
improvements as feasible and
policies to allow for increased
congestion at key bottlenecks in
Southcenter.
Parking near Transit
• Partnerships with Sound Transit (ST)
have funded multimodal projects, and
the infill station is anticipated to have
300 parking stalls
• Rather than large capital investments,
the plan recommends monitoring and
coordination with ST.
• The plan does not preclude parking, the
Council could pursue further and staff
could could facilitate in 2025
Planning for Freight
• Community members frequently
mentioned concerns about
trucks on Tukwila streets
• The plan touches lightly on truck
parking and anticipates the City
will leverage Allentown Truck
Study
Planning for Freight
• We recommend the
following in the plan:
• Coordinate with local
stakeholders to address truck
parking needs.
• Develop a plan to address
competing needs along freight
corridors that prioritize functions
based on adjacent land use.
Funding
• Funding alternatives could
include:
• Transportation benefit
district (TBD) sales tax
• TBD car tab fee
• Other utility taxes (in
addition to the sewer tax)
• Dedicated transportation
property tax levy
• Local improvement district
