administered the oath of office to J. P. Walkup who then assumed
executive seat. Mayor Walkup said he would not wonry the Council
with any inaugural address further than to pledge his every effort
for the betterment and upbuilding of the Town, and requested the
co- operation of the Council to bring about a realization of those
efforts.
The Mayor then appointed John R. Walkup as Clerk, who assumed
the office. The Mayor then delivered the oath of office to the
newly elected councilmen T f.ea and Storey who assumed their seats.
Town Treasurer, J. M. Hall was then sworn in. Councilman pries
offered his resignation as a member of the Council, which was ac-
cepted by that body. Mayor then appointed August Ties water sup
ertendent.
Mayor Walkup said there would be no change in the make up
committees at present.
On motion the first Thursday in each month was declared regu-
lar meeting night of the Council.
H. 0. Blankenship made and oral request to be allowed to
tunnel under street known as Old Lemon Road. The Mayor instructed
him to bring his request in writing.
On motion Council adjourned to the first Thursday in July.
