SUMMARY
Per City Council Rules of Procedure (I.B.) the City Council President is elected by the other
members at the first Regular Meeting in January. The general practice is to elect
presidents in a rotating order by seniority. Any Councilmember can make the following
motion: "I move to elect XXXXX as Council President for 2025."
