HomeMy WebLinkAboutPark 2024-07-10 Minutes PARK COMMISSION MINUTES th July 10, 2024 5:30pm Tukwila Community Center Call to Order: CommissionerKathleen Gantzcalled the meeting to order at 5:32pm. Attendance: Commissioners Scott Kruize, Sean Albert,Kathleen Gantz, Gina Bernhardt Nielsen, Roby Snow Joe Camacho Staff Matthew Austin, Kris Kelly Other: Approval of Minutes: FirstSean Albert, Second Gina Bernhardt Nielsen Approval of Agenda:First Sean Albert, Second Scott Kruize Special Presentations: Citizen Comment: None Business Items: a)Overview of the KC GIS/map/App that will be developed through King County b)Master planning Q/A, reviewed Riverton and Crestview playground improvement plans. a.Commissioners requested that the folders be placed in a drive for them to review with the most up to date documents being available. i.Matthew would work with the consultant to get the new documents and all park planning documents for their review. b.Commissioners seemed to appreciate the overview documents that had graphics that showed the playground structures, surfacing samples etc. i.Matthew let them know that he would work with our consultant to get a similar th document for the remaining plans to review, 116parcel and Duwamish Park. c.Commissioner Gantz requested that access to the survey results be made available. i.Matthew advised that he would look into it and post them in the drive if possible, for the commission review. c)Park commissioners discussed the possibility of not doing a August Park Commission meeting in lieu of having a table at the concert in the parks event. Commissioners decided to skip the August meeting and manage a table to discuss the parks commission as well as have a boardto do a q/a for park users. d) Matthew Austin provided an update for park maintenance, going over current projects such as the pickleball court conversion of the skate park, providing an update to the maintenance regarding trail mowing, and irrigation repairs among other items. a. Commissioner Albert brought up some irrigation concerns regarding Duwamish Hill Preserves irrigation running during the day time, as well as lack of maintenance occurring at Duwamish Park. i. Parks repaired the noted irrigation issues the following day. e) Kris Kelly provided an update to current work being done near the Duwamish Hill Preserve and the progress on working with Public Works and DCD to mitigate some of the problems associated with the shoulder parking in that location. Reports of commissioners/announcements: Joe Camacho, provided an update on his attendance to the Climate Equity commission Topics for next meeting, a. King County Parks Levy Update on renewal process, (Dough Hodson or Sarah Brandt) b. OTAK, (Keith Bates, Rhys Coffee, Lindsay Martin) c. Q-2 Update (Matthew) d. Director Report (Kris Kelly) e. Park and Playground Master planning review and Q/A i. Duwamish th ii. 116 f. November - Green Infrastructure Program- seeking greater collaboration and coordination city-wide around green infrastructure (Pete/Kris) Other: Adjournment: The meeting was closed at 7:23 pm.
