HomeMy WebLinkAbout1934-08-24 Special Minutes SPECIAL MEETING August 24, 1934 Serial meeting called to order by Mayor J. P. Walkup. The following councilmen being present: D. S. Dugan, Eli Thompson, J. A. Naylor and J. S. Storey. The Mayor then announced the nature of the meeting was for the purpose of considering a proposition by the City of Seattle to ,purchase the Water System by assuming the balance of the utility bonds and also to furnish water to the consumers for 41.00 per month where it now is costing 42.00. About 40 residents of the town were present and the Mayor requested an expression of their views on the matter. Oral expression voiced by those whose ac- cepted the invitation were almost unanimous in favoring the pro- position. The Mayor stated that it would be necessary to hold a special election if satisfactory arrangements were agreed up- on by Seattle and Tukwila authorities. He asked those in favor of the plan to acquiesce by raising their hand. Many hands were raisied in favor and none apposed in fact the vote was unanimous. Councilman Dugan then moved the Mayor be instructed to continue negotiations. The motion was carried by unnaninous vote of the Council. Nothing further before the meeting the Council adjourned.
