HomeMy WebLinkAbout1934-09-06 Regular MinutesThe meeting was called to order by Mayor J. P. Walkup with Councilmen Naylor, Thompson and Storey present. The report of the Treasurer was read and on motion was approved and ordered filed. The report of the Water Supt. was read and approved and ordered filed. BILLS The following bills were then read and referred to the Finance Committee. After examination by the Committee all bills were approved and the Clerk was instructed to draw warrants for their respective amounts. Currant Expense Fund: August Thies, nteetSupt. Salary John R. Walkup, Clerks Salary J. U. Hall, Treasurer's B. A. Foreman, Hall Rent National Surety Co. Bond for Treasurer Current Water Fund: COMMUNICATIONS September 6, 1934 $10.00 10.00 6.25 2.50 10.00 *38.75 City of Seattle July service $136.00 It August 124.90 August Thies, Water Supt. Salary expense 31.51 Agnes M. Hall Collections 5.00_ $297.41 The resignation of Councilman Saunders was read and on motion was accepted. On motion the matter of filling the vacancy was deferred until the next meeting of the Council. The matter of the 1934 -35 budget was then taken up and the following agreed upon. The budget ordinance was then introduced covering the same and passed its first reading. A special meeting of the Finnance Committee was ordered as provided by law to be held October 1 at 10:00 A.M. to listen to protests L' any. A Committee from the Foster High School consisting of Professors Wynstra, Shaffer and Meyers Nere present and were extended the privilege of the floor. Professor Wynstra and Shaffer then in a very plain but convincing manner and with the introduction of chatts explained the financial condition of District 144 and the absolute necessity of passing the 10 mill levy at the coming election. The Committee was thanked by the Mayor for their courtesy and the Council promised cooperation. Ther being no further business the Council adjourned at 9:15 A. M.
