1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:01 PM
2. Roll Call
a. Board Members: Robin Boland, Cynthia Chesak, Verna Seal, Marie Parrish, Steve Miller,
Crystal Lyons
• On-line: Gerie Ventura
• Absent: Angie Gonzalez
a. Staff:
• City of Tukwila Staff: John Dunn, Recreation Superintendent
• King County Library System Staff: Mary Sue Houser, Regional Manager; Steven Bailey,
Library Services Manager; Heidi Daniel, Executive Director; John Sheller, Government
Relations manager
3. Land Acknowledgement- Robin Boland read the land acknowledgement:
"The City of Tukwila is located on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people. We acknowledge their
continuing connections to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their elders past, present
and emerging."
4. Approval of Agenda and Minutes - October 1, 2024
a. Agenda: Cynthia Chesak motioned to approve the agenda. Verna Seal seconded the motion to
approve the agenda; all were in favor.
b. Minutes: Steve Miller motioned to approve the minutes. Marie Parrish seconded the motion to
approve the minutes; all were in favor.
5. Public Comment: No public comments
6. Unfinished Business
a. Little Library update - Ms. Chesak asked if John was comfortable with her asking the Cascade
View Elementary School Principal about the possibility of adding a little library at CVE.
b.
7. New Business
a. 2024 Budget update -John Dunn provided an update on spending in the fiscal year.
b. Halloween Carnival Wrap up - John Dunn provided a recap of the event and numbers.
c. Board positions follow up- Positions are filled now with Crystal Lyons officially appointed to the
board.

d. Magazine clean up in Fitness room — Magazines cleaned out and labeled with "purchased by
TLAB"
e. 2024 wrap up— Verna Seal will work with John Sheller of I<CLS to develop and wrap up report to
be presented to Council.
f. 2025 Goals — The board discussed the goals for next year.
g. 2025 Meeting schedule — Will stay the same as 2024.
8. Staff Reports
a. KCLS: Staff provided updates on the upcoming activities at the library.
b. City of Tukwila: John Dunn provided an update on City and Parks and Recreation events,
programs and other information.
