The Mayor wants to sign, and he will likely ask at Monday's meeting for your mutual support in signing. To be clear, this is a capital funding request, not a request for city support. They have requested a final letter by Tuesday 2/11. Draft letter: February 7, 2025 Dear Legislative Leader, On behalf of the City of Tukwila, I am pleased to express our strong support of HealthPoint's 2025 $1 million capital request for the Tukwila Health & Wellness Center (THWC). HealthPoint is an outstanding, community -minded organization that provides excellent healthcare to our often medically underserved residents. HealthPoint has operated a medical clinic in Tukwila for over 10 years and served our residents even before their existing Tukwila clinic opened. With increasing income disparities in Tukwila, and fewer providers serving Medicaid patients or providing services on a sliding fee scale, HealthPoint's work is more important than ever. HealthPoint's work in our community is so important that the City Council selected them, via a public process, to purchase City -owned land to develop the future Tukwila Health & Wellness Center. The City is very excited for the new Center and our growing partnership with HealthPoint. Once built, the Tukwila Health & Wellness Center will offer tremendous value to our diverse community. It will allow HealthPoint to provide more high -quality healthcare to our residents who often struggle to access such services due to lack of insurance, lower household incomes, transportation limitations, cultural and language barriers, and otheychallenges. Additionally, the Center will connect the recent development efforts on Tukwila International Boulevard to fully activate a new, vibrant community hub. The new THWC will transform a plot of land that was previously occupied by run down motels involved in criminal activity. HealthPoint has been an outstanding partner throughout the development process. We especially appreciate their extensive community and stakeholder engagement as the first step in designing the new campus. We are in full support of HealthPoint's $1 million capital request to build the Tukwila Health and Wellness Center and urge you to fund it. Regards, 1 Thomas McLeod Mayor 2
