January 7, 2025, 6:00pm Location: Tukwila Community Center
1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:01 PM
2. Roll Call
a. Board Members: Robin Boland, Cynthia Chesak, Verna Seal, Steve Miller, Crystal Lyons, Gerie
Ventura
Absent: Marie Parrish, Angie Gonzalez
a. Staff:
City of Tukwila Staff: Marlus Francis, Recreation Superintendent
King County Library System Staff: Mary Sue Houser, Regional Manager; Steven Bailey,
Library Services Manager;
3. Land Acknowledgement – Steve Miller read the land acknowledgement:
“The City of Tukwila is located on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people. We acknowledge their
continuing connections to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their elders past, present
and emerging.”
4. Approval of Agenda and Minutes – December 3, 2024
a. Agenda: Verna Seal motioned to approve the agenda. Crysal Lyons seconded the motion to
approve the agenda; all were in favor.
b. Minutes: Cynthia Chesak motioned to approve the minutes. Verna Seal seconded the motion to
approve the minutes; all were in favor.
5. Public Comment: No public comments
6. Unfinished Business
a. Little Library update – Ms. Chesak has not heard back from the TSD and believes the best spot
nd
would be on City Property on the corner of 32 near the cemetery.
7. New Business
a. 2024 wrap up – Verna Seal will be putting together a shared document that all members can
review and add to. She will be reaching out to Laurel to see when it would work to present to
council.
Website Project – Marlus Francis explained some ideas about what our website could look like.
Some suggestions were pictures and bios of TAB members, ways to donate and volunteer as
well as completed or project status reports.

8. Staff Reports
a. KCLS: Staff provided updates on the upcoming activities at the library.
b. City of Tukwila: Marlus Francis provided an update on City and Parks and Recreation events,
programs and other information.
9. Reports of Board Members/Announcements
a. Budget – would like to spend some time brainstorming on budget items. Friends of the Library
budget passed.
10. Next Meeting: February 4, 2025
