Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information about any of the following items. I. Intergovernmental Update • King County Flood Control District Advisory Board Meeting: Mayor McLeod and staff participated in a King County Flood Control District Advisory Board meeting on March 20. • King County Regional Transit Safety Task Force Kickoff Meeting: On March 20 Mayor McLeod and Chief Dreyer attended the King County Regional Transit Safety Task Force Kickoff meeting. The task force was established in response to urgent public safety concerns on and around the King County transit system. • South King Housing and Homelessness Partners (SKHHP) Board Meeting: Mayor McLeod attended the SKHHP monthly Board meeting on March 21. • King County Joint Recommendations Committee Meeting: Human Services staff attended the King County Joint Recommendations Committee meeting on March 27. • South King County Human Services Planners Meeting: Human Services staff attended the monthly South King County Human Services Planners meeting on March 19. • Community Business Connector Breakfast: Inclusion & Engagement attended the Community Business Connector (CBC) Breakfast hosted by the City of SeaTac. The Seattle Metro Chamber led initiatives reported outputs from the past two years. • Meeting with Senator Murray's Office: On March 19 Mayor McLeod, Puget Sound Regional Council Executive Director Board and other regional Mayors met with Senator Patty Murray's Office to discuss regional transportation needs. • Senator Hasegawa Town Hall: On March 22 Mayor McLeod and Councilmembers Martinez, McConnell and Papyan attended a Town Hall hosted by Senator Hasegawa. • Meeting with Department of Commerce: On March 28 Mayor McLeod and other regional mayors met with Department of Commerce Director Nguyen. Tukwila City Hall • 6200 Southcenter Boulevard • Tukwila, WA 98188 • 206-433-1800 • Website: TukwilaWA.gov 89 City Administrator's Report April 1, 2025 Page 2 • 42nd Avenue Bridge Funding Outreach: On April 1 Mayor McLeod and Director Miles visited with State Legislators in Olympia to advocate for the funding for the 42nd Ave Bridge. The City provided a letter signed by nearly 30 community members supporting the City's request for funding. II. Community Events • Green Jobs Event: Transportation Demand Management staff attended a Green Jobs Event organized by Metro held at Foster High on March 12. • 2025 Summer Camp Lottery: Enrollment in Camp Tukwilly, Preschool Camps, and Teen Venture Camp will be an in -person lottery. This change is based on community feedback and challenges with online registration in previous years. Forms must be handed in on Tuesday, April 15, from 6 PM - 8 PM at the Tukwila Community Center. There will be an Ice Cream Social and meet and greet with camp counselors. • Summer Events: Parks & Recreation summer events are on the horizon. The season will feature concerts, movies, art, physical activities, and a farmers' market. More information is available at https://tukwilawa.gov/SummerEvents. III. Staff Updates Public Safety • Camp Clean -Ups: On March 25, the Tukwila Police Department, along with the Tukwila Public Works (Streets & Surface water crews), and the Parks and Recreation team worked diligently to clean up two camps along Tukwila waterways. With water levels rising, the camps located at the 5200 block of Southcenter Boulevard and between Andover and West Valley Highway caused environmental and safety concerns due to their proximity to the water. Warnings were posted before the clean-up, and local teams provided/offered people in the camp local services. The clean-up took 2 excavators, 4 dump trucks, and multiple flatbed trucks. A portion of a camp was on private property, and the owner brought their own cleanup team and resources to get the job done. Clean-up crews continue to clear out the area. • Meeting with Westfield Mall: On March 10 Chief Dreyer met with Westfield Mall security management to follow up on the mall patrol program. • Meeting with Great American Casino: On March 12 Chief Dreyer and Deputy Chief Lund had a meeting with Great American Casino general manager to discuss safety issues that have been occurring at their business. Project Updates • Allentown Truck Reroute Project Draft Environmental Impact Statement: The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) that studies the Allentown truck reroute alternatives is available at: https://www.tukwilawa.gov/wp-content/uploads/PW-Allentown-Truck- Reroute-Draft-EIS 20250311.pdf. No vacancies. • Civil Service Commission: The next meeting is scheduled for April 17, 2025. 1 resident position term expires March 31, 2026. VACANT: 1 Resident Position. Applications are currently being accepted. • COPCAB: The next meeting is scheduled for April 10, 2025. 3 resident position terms expire March 31, 2026. VACANT: 1 Business Position and Student Representative. • Equity & Social Justice Commission: The next meeting is scheduled for April 3, 2025. 1 City Employee position term expires March 31, 2026. 2 Education position terms expire March 31, 2026. 1 Community position term expires March 31, 2026. No vacancies. • Human Services Advisory Board: The next meeting is scheduled for April 17, 2025. 1 Resident position term expires March 31, 2026. 1 School District position term expires March 31, 2026. 1 Medical/Health position term expires March 31, 2026. No vacancies. • Library Advisory Board: The next meeting is scheduled for April 1, 2025. 3 Resident position terms expire March 31, 2026. VACANT: Student Representative. • Lodging Tax Advisory Committee: The next meeting is scheduled for April 18, 2025. All positions are 1-year terms. VACANT: 1 Business Collecting Tax Representative • Park Commission: The next meeting is scheduled for April 9, 2025. 2 Community position terms expire March 31, 2026.
