PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, in 1982 J. Sterling Morton proposed to the Nebraska Board of Agriculture
that a special day be set aside for the planting of trees to be called Arbor Day, which
was first observed with the planting of more than a million trees in Nebraska; and
WHEREAS, Arbor Day is now observed throughout the world; recognizing the
planting of trees supports sustainment of our natural environment, provides
economic vitality and renewable resources; and
WHEREAS, all members of the Tukwila community are also encouraged to plant trees
to promote the well-being of this and future generations;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Thomas McLeod, Mayor of the City of Tukwila, do hereby
proclaim April 16, 2025:
Arbor Day
in the City of Tukwila and encourage all members of the Tukwila community to
celebrate Arbor Day and to support efforts to protect trees and woodlands.
