PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, on April 17, 1952, the Congress of the United States approved the Joint
Resolution to provide for setting aside an appropriate day as a National Day of Prayer
(Public Law 81,324:66 Stat. 64); and
WHEREAS, the history of our nation is indelibly marked with the role that prayer has
played in the lives of individuals and the nation; and
WHEREAS, historically many of our greatest leaders have turned to prayer in times of
crisis and thanksgiving; and
WHEREAS, the virtues of prayer reflect a common bond between people to include
their hopes and aspirations, sorrows and fears, remorse and renewed resolve, thanks
and praise, joy and love; and
WHEREAS, prayer is both a personal and shared act and a practice observed by
multitudes across our diverse community in every language, culture, religion, and
belief system. On this National Day of Prayer, we recognize the profound power of
prayer, grounded in deep humility and hope;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Thomas McLeod, Mayor of the City of Tukwila, do hereby
proclaim May 1, 2025:
Day of Prayer
in the City of Tukwila and encourage the community, in accordance with their own
faith and conscience, to join me in recognizing this special observance.
