NEWS REPORT
Have you read your last Hazel-
nut? Probably not. Outside of
the Calendar there has been
little news or editorials that
you could digest.
This monthly sheet was origin-
ally intended to disseminate in -
.formation on Tukwila Activities,
but has starved for suitable
material.
This is regretable because
there have been changes and act-
i-vities''. of general :interest to
the residents of. Tykwila. Un-
fortunately the strictly volun-
teer staff of the IIazeinut does
not include an active- a." 1 full-
time renc,rter. The
dependent' oil corn rel` :^._ in -
forma un_ from tt,;; s::. ces of
news.
We have a recent exatple:-
The Town of Tukwila has adopt-
ed a new Comprehensive Plan.
We learned about this adoption
by a legal notice in the Renton
Chronicle. of -January 3rd, 1962.
Being curious, we discovered
that this ordinance (#347) had
been read three times and then
passed at the Dec. 11, 1961
Council meeting. -
Town Council business must be
published in a legal newspaper,
and the use of the .Chronicle for
this. purpose is fully understood,
and there may be some reason for
the =secrecy which withheld this
news.from the Hazelnut. .
The discrepancies between the
map published in the-. Chronicle
and the Tukwila zoning map
bothers us. We have been assur-
ed that the zoning remains un -
.changed by the adoption of this
ordinance, but are wondering why
a plan was accepted that is in
conflict with current and pro-
jected'zoning.
