TOWN COUNCIL
,cerpts from the July minutes of
the Tukwila Town Council.
The regular meeting of the Council
was called to order by the Mayor, Chas.
0, Baker, at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen pres-
ent were Stan :iinkler, A. G. Radford,
R.K.Doyle, E.U. Ives and Jerry Hamilton
Correspondence regarding the recent-
ly discovered data concerning the ° or-
iginal Tukwila Town limits was dis-
cuesed at length. Copies of old maps
were examined. According to these ex-
cerpts from the County Commissionerd
Journal of June 16, 1908, there is an
area that in some manner has been de-
leued from prevailing Tukwila maps.
Mayo -7 Baker is working with the County
Assessor's office to have this area
restored to Tukwila.
Mr. Minkler reported five building
permits issued in June.
A letter from Mr. Hayes Evans, Dir-
ector King County Sanitary Operation
Department, was acknowledged, in which
Mr. Evans requested permission to use
the Community Disposal Site, now
located in Tukwila, „Mr. Hamilton
mewed the Council grant this request
that the Tukwila Community Disposal
Site be used as a transfer station,
seconded by Mr. Doyle and carried.
A request was received from sir. Gd. R.
McMullen for vacation of the street to
the rear of his business location on
the N.E. corner of So. 154th and 57th
Ave. So. Lir. Radford moved a bearing

has bean a difficult t sk not to men -

so many rumors were floating around
such as the one that .andover would
never come into existence as en indus-

With the Gener^1 Electric announce-
ment our industrial future is begin-
ning to take place. This company will
attract other industries in supporting
fields.
In the not to distant future there
will be two or three more relerses on
na:+:tionelly knowa companies coming into
Andover. ` There will be ' others coming
to our town in the newt few yee.rs .
Tukwila will grow and prosper es a
city largely devoted to industry.
As we mentioned before this is our
proud moment of fulfillment for the
many hundreds of hours - of work end
planning throughout the past three
ye rs It does not nein thwt all of
the work is done. Aow codes theneed
for rail spurs to be brought in to
serve the area. Water meins must be
instc.11ed so that these comprnies will
have sufficient water.' Sewage treat-
ment plants are yet to be built.
Streets must be laid out, improved end
dedicated to the town.
These are only some of the projects
that we are embarking upon thet must
be completed before General Electric
opens their` doors Lisy 1, 1961. With
your.continued support and essistance
we will try to e ccoaplish these t sks.
This article h e be -n devot-:c: to our
progress in our own town. Our Valley
Industrial Commission' is recessed for
the summer months although membere <-:re

could not be construed es yen attempt
to increase lend velues in the p=th of
the proposed freeway.
All petitioners were heard from and
carefully quee tinned by the members of
the commission.
Mr. Paul. McKay, District Engineer of
the State Highway Dept. vias present
and was asked to make comment on the
proposed rezone request. Ir. McKay
rec.uested that the Commission keep his
department informed en such matters so
they could make recommendations or re-
quests, and shod for the record that
the problems had been discussed. He
pointed out that while the enact loc-
ation of the freeway and the inter-
change was not yet officially firm, it
would be very close to the present
tentative location due to the fact
that so much land had been acquired to
the west and south of this area. This
fact in itself would rule out any ma-
joe change in the present proposed
location.
Ir. MacKay was asked how land values
would be established in the path of
.the freeway and he pointed out that
the law was very explicit in the mat-
ter of how land values were arrived at
and that processes for appeal were
available. He stated that the only
thing holding up action in this area
was the availability of funds, and he
was confident that this matter would
be taken care of in the very near fut-
ure.
Chairman Strander thanked ilr. McKay
for his informative talk and stated
that he would recess this meeting un-

Chairman Strander opened the July 28
meeting at 8:O5P.M. He called the
roll of the petitioners and asked them
to state whether they wished to stili
pursue their request for. C-2 zoning.

wished the C-2 zoning.
1r. Radford moved, seconded by Mr.
Minkler that the. TukT;:il . i'1'; nning
Commission recommend to the Town
Council that the land described in the
petition of the 14 landowners was from
a land use consideration suitable for
C-2 zoning. Notion carried without a
