May 6, 2025, 6:00pm Location: Tukwila Community Center
1.Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:02 PM
2.Roll Call
a. Board Members: Cynthia Chesak, Verna Seal, Steve Miller, Gerie Ventura, Marie Parrish, Robin
Boland
Absent: Crystal Lyons
a.Staff:
City of Tukwila Staff: John Dunn, Recreation Superintendent
King County Library System Staff: Steven Bailey, Library Services Manager; Mary Sue
Houser, Regional Manager
3.Land Acknowledgement – Steve Miller read the land acknowledgement:
“The City of Tukwila is located on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people. We acknowledge their
continuing connections to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their elders past, present
and emerging.”
4.Approval of Agenda and Minutes – April 1, 2025
a.Agenda: Verna Seal motioned to approve the agenda. Cynthia Chesak seconded the motion to
approve the agenda; all were in favor.
b.Minutes: Robin Boland motioned to approve the minutes. Verna Seal seconded the motion to
approve the minutes; all were in favor.
5.Public Comment: No public comments
6.Unfinished Business
a.2024 wrap up – Verna Seal reported she is finishing up the report. Will be completed by next
meeting.
b.Website Project – John Dunn shared the first couple of online web pages.
7.New Business
a.Little Library condition and painting party ideas – Cynthia Chesak shared the condition and
needs for the different locations.
b.Budget check in – John Dunn shared the current status of the budget.
8.Staff Reports
a.KCLS: Staff provided updates on the upcoming activities at the library.
