Gabriel Jones, expressed iconcern regiarding rising anto-queer arid' anfi-innimigrant rhetoric and Urged the Cou'ncil to implement stronger protections. 5, Jade D(keIsky urged the Council to imp1enrient data collection regulations to, protect the First Amendment righits of Tukwila citizens from companies such as Palantir. 6, Dominic Driscoll shared a poem highli,ghtjng the importance of speaking out against injustice, and expressed that Tukwila Police Depatnent can do more to protect community members from lCE, 7, Josh Castle, Chair Of SOLIth lincirvisible, relayed an incident �n which a community miember's relative had been detained by ICE and urged the Council to take action to help protect community rnembers, Council President Sharp referenced an, email from a community member to the City Council, who noted the mosque could be a resource for homeless individuals, SPECIAL ISSUES a. Public Safety DiSCLISSion: Local Police and Federal Immigration Enforcement. Chiief hewer provided an overview of local law enforcement policies and practices, with regard to federal irrmigration enforcement The Councflirnernbers, asked clarifying questions regarding recent events, what the City can do, and use of force. Based! on a request from Councilmember Hedrick, Council consensus existed for further review and discussion of immigrant protections, b. Resolutions adopting City Investment Policy and City Debt Policy, Tony Gullerton, Deputy Finance Director, explained the proposed resolutions adopt new City Investment and IDeb�t P&icies that better align, wifth, industry standards and support the City's financial strategy. Ordinance adopting Franchise Agreement with Hyper Fiber. Joel Bush, Chief Tedinollogy Officer, overviewed the proposed 51-year Franchise Agreement wth Hyper Fiber to provide home internet services, in TUkwiia. PILiget Sound Fnre Chief interviews He attended a 4t" of JLdy event in Burien and Kent Cornucopia Days. He noted (ecology had missed a pickup around the July 401 holiday. Based on a question from Council President Sharp, COL=1 consensus existed to review policies regarding encampments in sensitive areas a,rd shorelines, Couinc�ii President Sharp referenced a question froirn a, community member regarding potential installation of water tank5 aiong the Allentown Pedestrian bridge to allow residients to, assist with vegetation maintenance. Council consensus existed for a cornprehensive review of crosswalks arid pedestrian safety in the City, Councii Presidlent Sharp requested information regar61ng the installation of speed cushions in the Alientown neighborhood, Council President Sharp provided an update on the Coun& retreat and indicated the Council can, continue reviewing potentiali dates or wart until a now Councilmember is appointed due to extenuating circumstances with Councii Position No 6.
