Ideas for the next event included outreach to diverse communities, inviting food trucks, having ushers, and moving resource tables to avoid overcrowding the hallway. • Public Safety Update — Chief Eric Drever Commissioners received information from Chief Drever and had an opportunity to ask questions. The Chief discussed TPD's obligations as it pertains to assisting Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) as well as state and local laws that set parameters on the relationship between local law enforcement and ICE. He emphasized the importance of community members being able to call TPD for assistance without fear regardless of immigration status. The Chief assured that to his knowledge, the regional ICE director does not plan to initiate raids in spaces such as schools due to the danger of such activities. The Chief also discussed the Use of Force Review Board and other efforts Tukwila Equity and Social Justice Commission City of Tukwila — City Hall 6200 Southcenter Boulevard, Tukwila, WA 98188 under the TPD's 5 year strategic plan. He was asked about efforts regarding language assistance and the diversity of recent hires. TPD uses phone apps for interpretation and can call Valley to dispatch officers who can provide in -language support. Further conversation took place about the positive impact of the Tukwila Officers at the high school. Commissioners also recommended that TPD find opportunities to engage with communities. Tabling or presence at local events was suggested. • 2025 Work Plan Tabled due to lack of time. Commissioners are to continue working on assigned tasks. VI Miscellaneous • Jo reported that a Tukwila Community Roundtable is to take place in partnership with the Tukwila Library on Monday, April 14. A new initiative, The People's Project, will be discussed at the next meeting.
