Tukwila Officers responded to a Tukwila area rental car business to reports of a male
attempting to enter and take one of their vehicles. An employee of the business was
trying to keep the male at the location while the officers were responding.
Tukwila Officers arrived and observed this the suspect struggling with the employee.
Officers contacted the subject who became immediately combative with the police and
resisted their attempts to take him into custody. Officers on scene requested additional
assistance, and one of the responding officers was assaulted by the suspect during the
struggle.
Multiple officers arrived and were then able to control him and take this person into
custody. The 32 year old man appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, and was
taken to an area hospital for treatment and observation. He was later released from the
hospital and booked in to the King County Jail for the charges of attempted motor
vehicle theft, assault on a police officer, assault, and obstructing a Law Enforcement
Officer.
Further investigation and the filing of charges will be conducted by Tukwila Police
Detectives. Any requests for additional information should be directed to the press
contact listed above on Monday, May 7.
