We pay our respect to their elders past, present and emerging. • Roll Call • Approval of Agenda • Approval of Minutes Commissioner Reports: • Reports • New Business Staff Reports • Grey Ellis, the Teen Art Collective consultant, will be recruiting teens at the August 31 farmers market • Gloria Alberto has completed the portrait of Jan Bolerjack. He has been paid the $1000 stipend • The commission has been invited to lead an artist selection process for a new mural at Duwamish Park. The mural will be on the surface of the sport court. The desired installation is Spring 2026. We pay our respect to their elders past, present and emerging. • Roll Call • Approval of Agenda • Approval of Minutes Visitor Introduction: • Karine Roettgers, Partnership Development Manager, Seattle Southside o Barbara McMichael, Community Liaison for Seattle Southside, also attended. • Barbara informed the commission that SoCoCulture will be revived. Their next meeting will be in May. Information will be sent to the commission. • SCC is currently mapping public art in southside cities, including Tukwila. SCC will share its current inventory with the commission for any input and/or additions. • SCC may also be commissioning public art in the future and will seek the commissions input. Commissioner Reports: • Ongoing Business o Festival Update • Pinky Estell reported on a meeting held with Tukwila Parks & Recreation regarding resources the department can extend to the festival. • Next steps will be to create an event layout/map with necessary resources noted. • The commission also agreed that the World Cup activities in Seattle will likely not negatively impact a festival held in 2026. o Portrait Project Update ■ Verna Seal reported that an approved photo of Jan Bolerjack has been acquired. ■ Michael May has begun the contract with project artist Gloria Alberto. o Council Presentation • Cynthia Chesak reported out. A grant to the symphony will be contingent on offering at least two performances at the Tukwila Village Farmers Market. o Cynthia Chesak will contact the Rainier Symphony to measure their interest in the idea.
