September is National Preparedness Month Sign-up For ALERT King County Today o) ALERT KING COUNTY In an emergency, our Emergency Management Team may need to reach the community quickly to provide important information that could protect your life or your family members' lives. How do we attempt to reach all the members of our community quickly? The answer is Mass Notification Systems. Mass Notification Systems send real-time alerts with important, lifesaving information. Most systems will allow you to choose how you would like to receive your alerts - landline phone, cell phone, and/or email are all options. Across the country, mass notification systems have previously been used to notify communities of curfews, boil water orders, Tornado warnings, shelter -in -place, active shooters, school lockdowns, evacuations, and more. There is no doubt that receiving these notifications have saved countless lives. The City of Tukwila uses ALERT King County, a CodeRed product, as it's mass notification system to alert you of emergencies in our community. Sign-up is free and easy to complete online. You'll provide the necessary information, such as your phone numbers, email, address, and how you'd like to receive your messages. Once you're enrolled, you don't have to ever go through the process again. If you change your mind about receiving alerts, you can cancel them at anytime. The information you provide at registration remains safeguarded by CodeRed as proprietary, which means that the City of Tukwila cannot see an individual's information that's been entered into the system, but we can use it to send emergency alerts. Are you a business owner? This system is for you too! Consider signing up for Alert King County to receive critical emergency messages that could protect you, your business, and your employees.
