Black and white map enlargement of Burien, Tukwila, Renton and vicinity in King County. The map
appeared in an atlas entitled "General Highway and Transportation Maps.' These maps were developed
by the State-wide Highway Planning Survey, which was instituted by the Department of Highways and the
Public Roads Administration in 1936. A division of this survey, called the Rural Road Inventory, obtained
by field inventory all the highway and rural development information which is incorporated in these maps.
The designated Primary and Secondary State Highway systems are shown as of 1937, whereas all other
roads are shown as of 1936.
