1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:02 PM

a. Board Members:
• Present: Cynthia Chesak, Verna Seal, Steve Miller, Crystal Lyons
• Online: Robin Boland
• Absent: Marie Parrish, Gerie Ventura
b. Staff:
• City of Tukwila Staff: John Dunn, Recreation Superintendent; Doreen Deaver,
Recreation Coordinator; Jewels Jugum, Recreation Coordinator
• King County Library System Staff: Steven Bailey, Library Services Manager
3. Land Acknowledgement - Steve Miller read the land acknowledgement:
"The City of Tukwila is located on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people. We acknowledge their
continuing connections to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their elders past, present
and emerging."
4. Approval of Agenda and Minutes -June 3, 2025
a. Agenda: Cynthia Chesak motioned to approve the agenda. Verna Seal seconded the motion to
approve the agenda; all were in favor.
b. Minutes: Cynthia Chesak motioned to approve the minutes. Verna Seal seconded the motion to
approve the minutes; all were in favor.
5. Public Comment: No public comments
6. Unfinished Business
a. 2024 wrap up - Verna Seal shared the draft document to share with council. The board
discussed updates to the report and decided to present it at public comments on July 21, 2025.
b. Little Library condition and painting - Cynthia Chesak shared more information on painting and
caulking the libraries. The board will paint the libraries on August 16, 2025.
7. New Business
a. Meet the new Recreation Coordinators - Doreen Deaver & Jewels Jugum - Doreen and Jewels
introduced themselves and answered questions from the board members.
8. Staff Reports
a. KCLS: Staff provided updates on the upcoming activities at the library.

a. No reports at this time.
10. Next Meeting: September 2, 2025
a. Board unanimously voted to cancel August 5, 2025 meeting so members could partake in
National Night Out events.
b. Next Meeting Agenda Items:
i. Discussion on Fall Carnival support and participation
