Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information about any of the following items. I. Intergovernmental Update • Zero Waste Washington: Public Works Staff met with the non-profit Zero Waste Washington to discuss support we could offer Tukwila School District for their milk dispenser pilot project at Showalter Middle School and Foster High School. • FIFA World Cup Tabletop Exercise: On September 30 Emergency Management co -hosted a tabletop exercise to discuss FIFA World Cup scenarios. Representatives from Tukwila, Kent, Covington, SeaTac and Maple Valley and Valley Communications participated. II. Community Events • Paint Collection Event: A paint collection event was held on September 27 at the Tukwila Community Center collecting a total of 65,550 pounds of latex paint and 5,646 pounds of oil - based paint. • Green Tukwila Stewardship Events: Supporting community livability, the Green Tukwila Partnership program hosted two stewardship events. Riverside restoration along the Green River Trail at Bicentennial Park (October 8) and a native planting session at Cottonwood Corner along Riverton Creek (October 9). • Neighborhood Meeting: A meeting for Foster Point & Interurban Ave S residents and businesses will be held on October 14 at Billy Baroo's Restaurant. This will be the first in a series of neighborhood gatherings to engage about city initiatives and projects impacting the area. Transportation Demand Management staff will be onsite at the event. Tukwila City Hall • 6200 Southcenter Boulevard • Tukwila, WA 98188 • 206-433-1800 • Website: TukwilaWA.gov 391 City Administrator's Report October 13, 2025 Page 2 • Parks & Recreation Events: Parks and Recreation have ongoing youth sporting events taking place. o The free youth soccer clinics funded by RAVE Foundation had 22 unduplicated participants for the first four clinics, the last four will be held atTCC and Foster Memorial Field on October 11 and 18. o All three Tukwila elementary schools have free intramural sports kick-off this week, starting with volleyball and flag football practices. • SEA Transportation Fair: Transportation Demand Management staff are planning the SEA Transportation Fair in partnership with the Port of Seattle and Port Jobs for airport workers on October 22 where staff will promote SKC Trips, a sustainable transportation rewards program. • Tukwila Community Leadership Initiative (TCLI): Recruitment is underway for community members who want to learn how local government works and have a better understanding of how to get involved and make positive changes in Tukwila. ill. Staff Updates Public Safety • Meeting with the International Rescue Committee: Chief Dreyer met with the International Rescue Committee program manager to discuss a partnership on providing workshops for the newly arrived refugees that will build trust and understanding of the roles and functions of police, when to contact and what to expect if contacted by the police, and the appropriate actions to take during police interactions. Project Updates • 2025 / 2026 Mid -Biennium Budget Adjustments: Finance is currently finalizing both the 2025 Budget Amendment and the 2026 Mid -Biennial Adjustment, coming to Council FNG and Committee of the Whole beginning October 20. o The 2025 amendment is expected to include items such as the early repayment of an interfund loan, authorization of a term -limited Human Resources position with no budgetary impact, and general housekeeping adjustments across select City funds. o The 2026 Mid -Biennial Adjustment will update budget estimates based on finalized information, including the actual Consumer Price Index (CPI) to be applied to 2026, updated insurance rates, and revised PERS contribution amounts. • The People's Project: Tukwila's first -ever Participatory Budgeting initiative. The Tukwila community will decide how the City spends funds set aside for city improvements. Currently collecting ideas from community members, submissions are due by November 15. • 2025 Overlay: Road widening work almost complete, making a safer walking path along Macadam. • Tukwila Community Center Riverside Campus and Canoe Launch: The King County Council officially approved the $1,000,000 Open Space River Corridors grant for the Tukwila Community Center Riverside Campus and Canoe Launch project. Staff continue meeting with the project team to move forward with design, a survey of the area will be completed next. Feedback from participants was highly positive, with many noting that the training was well-timed and helpful in preparing users for upcoming phases of implementation. Boards, Commissions and Committees Applications for vacant positions are currently being accepted through October 31, 2025. We welcome the City Council to encourage community members to apply for vacant Board & Commission positions. • Arts Commission: The next meeting is scheduled for October 15, 2025. 2 Resident position terms expire March 31, 2026. VACANT: 1 Resident Position. • Civil Service Commission: The next meeting is scheduled for October 16, 2025. 1 resident position term expires March 31, 2026. No vacancies. • COPCAB: The next meeting is scheduled for November 13, 2025. 3 resident position terms expire March 31, 2026. VACANT: 1 Business position and Student Representative. • Equity & Social Justice Commission: The next meeting is scheduled for November 6, 2025 1 City Employee position term expires March 31, 2026. 2 Education position terms expire March 31, 2026. 1 Community position term expires March 31, 2026. No vacancies. • Human Services Advisory Board: The next meeting is scheduled for October 16, 2025. 1 Resident position term expires March 31, 2026. 1 School District position term expires March 31, 2026. 1 Medical/Health position term expires March 31, 2026. No vacancies. • Library Advisory Board: The next meeting is scheduled for November 4, 2025. 3 Resident position terms expire March 31, 2026. VACANT: 1 Resident position and Student Representative. • Lodging Tax Advisory Committee: The next meeting is scheduled for October 24, 2025. All positions are 1-year terms. Responses to Council/Community Inquiries Date of Inquiry Inquiry Response 7/28/2025 Can we get a Codiga speed camera warning sign at top of bridge coming toward Allentown? Ask the County for permission. Public Works Director responded in October 6 presentation that this was requested; County does not have authority and is not supportive of sign addition. 8/11/2025 Review signage in Allentown - make clear about truck access. Not enough signage on Codiga Park speed camera. Public Works Director provided email response to requestor that included information about signage. Sent to Council, Allentown Advocates and public commenter on October 10. 10/6/2025 Do other cities' park ranger positions reside in the Police Department. Mukilteo & Mount Vernon host their park ranger in the Police Department; Kirkland, Issaquah, Everett, Snohomish County and Bellevue park rangers are in Parks & Recreation departments.
