Signal Improvements at
65th Avenue South
& Southcenter Boulevard
Beginning in late September, the City of Tukwila will
launch a major infrastructure upgrade at the intersection
of 65th Avenue South and Southcenter Boulevard. The
project is expected to last approximately four months and
will improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and transit
accessibility.
Key improvements include:
A new signalized crosswalk will be added to help pedestri-
ans safely cross the street to reach the bus stop
The bus stop itself will be upgraded with a concrete
boarding area, ADA-accessible ramp, and protective
bollards to shield riders from nearby traffic

• Sidewalks and curb ramps will be rebuilt to make walking
and rolling easier for everyone
• New traffic signals will help manage vehicle flow and
improve safety for all road users
• Signs and lane markings will be updated to clearly guide
drivers and pedestrians
• A retaining wall will be built to support the new sidewalk
and bus stop area
During construction, temporary disruptions to traffic and
pedestrian access may occur. Please follow posted signage
and detours, and allow extra time when traveling through
the area.
These improvements are part of Tukwila's ongoing
commitment to building safer, more accessible
streets for everyone including transit riders.
