Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information about any of the following items. I. Intergovernmental Update • Meeting regarding Organics Management Law: Public Works staff attended a King County Solid Waste -sponsored meeting on November 4 to discuss the Organics Management Law and related work. • King County Executive -Elect Leadership Transition Team: Mayor McLeod has been asked to serve on King County Executive -Elect Zahilay's Leadership Transition Team and participated in a team meeting on November 13. • Miracle Village Community Advisory Committee Meeting: Human Services staff participated in the monthly Community Advisory Committee meeting for Miracle Village on November 13. • Regional Utilities Summit: On November 14 Public Works Director Tetatzin attended the Regional Utilities Summit to learn about upcoming rate changes. During the summit she connected with King County wastewater treatment and solid waste program leaders, as well as Seattle City Light representatives. • Presentation re: Health Care Needs of Refugees and Immigrants: Human Services staff participated in a Public Health presentation on survey results on Health Care Needs of Newly Arrived Refugees & Immigrants on November 14. • Metropolitan Solid Waste Advisory Committee Meeting: Public Works staff attended the monthly Metropolitan Solid Waste Advisory Committee meeting on November 19. • Sound Cities Association Board Meeting: Mayor McLeod participated in a Sound Cities Association Board meeting on November 19. • Cascade Water Alliance Board Meeting: On November 19 Mayor McLeod participated in a Cascade Water Alliance Board meeting. • South King County Human Services Planners Meeting: Human Services participated in the SKC Human Services Planners monthly meeting on November 19. Tukwila City Hall • 6200 Southcenter Boulevard • Tukwila, WA 98188 • 206-433-1800 • Website: TukwilaWA.gov 47 City Administrator's Report November 24, 2025 Page 2 • New Antenna at Fire Station 52: Public Works finalized an agreement with Seattle Public Utilities to locate a new antenna at Fire Station 52 to support the WA State Reference Network. This program supports improved GPS data for the region, improving the accuracy of location -based information needed for safe and efficient operations of transportation, utilities, and other public services. • Interagency Meeting re Gilliam Creek: Public Works staff held an interagency meeting with the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, WDFW and WRIA 9 to discuss a new two -gate option for the Gilliam Creek culvert upgrade project. II. Community Events • Yard Waste and Paper Shredding Event: Solid Waste program held a yard waste and paper shredding event on 11/1. Ninety-six vehicles dropped off materials at the Tukwila Community Center. • Veteran's Day Event: Parks & Recreation staff hosted a Veteran's Day Event at Tukwila Community Center on November 10 with 73 participants, including City Staff and Councilmembers. The event highlighted Puget Sound Honor Flight recipient Joe Duffie and his trip to Washington, DC this year, as well as Quilts of Honor, an organization that sews special quilts for veterans at no cost. • Puzzle Palooza: Puzzle Palooza was held on November 14. The event featured nine teams of 5 people each competing to complete a 500-piece puzzle the fastest. The winning team put their fall-themed puzzle together in just 42 minutes to earn first place. • SeaTac Community Resource Fair: Transportation Demand Management staff tabled at the SeaTac Community Resource Fair on November 14 to provide transportation information and distribute safety lights and ORCA cards. • Green Tukwila Day: The Green Tukwila program continues to keep residents focused and engaged in both supporting and learning about Tukwila's natural environment. The program held its annual Green Tukwila Day at Duwamish Hill Preserve on November 15. Volunteers, residents, Forest Stewards, Green Tukwila staff, and EarthCorps planted Camas and removed blackberries. The Buskings played live music for the work party, and Mike Perfetti, Public Works Project Manager, kicked off the event by giving an overview of the nearby shoreline rollback proposal. • Highline College Homecoming Event: On November 19 Transportation Demand Management staff tabled at Highline College homecoming event to provide transportation information and distribute safety lights and ORCA cards. • Airport University Class Presentation: Transportation Demand Management staff presented transportation options to SEA Airport at an Airport University class on November 20. Staff Updates Public Safety • Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC) Conference: Chief Dreyer and Deputy Chief Lund attended the annual WASPC conference the week of November 10. • Shop With A Cop Event: Tukwila Police will hold their annual Shop With a Cop event on December 13. Police members will pick up 12 children selected by schools and take them shopping for their families for Christmas. Project Updates • Orillia Rd Overlay: Coordination continues with the multi -family housing development and the County's Bow Lake Transfer Station. WSDOT approved a change to the project scope which allows us to focus on the north end of the project and eliminate conflicts with the south end development. • Emergency Sewer Repair Southcenter Parkway: The sewer line has been replaced, and pavement restoration is scheduled for November 21- 24. • Nelsen Side Channel: A purchase and sale agreement has been drafted and will be presented to the property owner, with the intent to close on the property in mid -December. Boards, Commissions and Committees We welcome the City Council to encourage community members to apply for vacant Board & Commission positions. • Arts Commission: The next meeting is scheduled for December 17, 2025. 2 Resident position terms expire March 31, 2026. VACANT: 1 Resident Position. • Civil Service Commission: The next meeting is scheduled for October 16, 2025. 1 resident position term expires March 31, 2026. No vacancies. • COPCAB: The next meeting is scheduled for December 11, 2025. 3 resident position terms expire March 31, 2026. VACANT: 1 Business position and Student Representative. • Equity & Social Justice Commission: The next meeting is scheduled for December 4, 2025. 1 City Employee position term expires March 31, 2026. 2 Education position terms expire March 31, 2026. 1 Community position term expires March 31, 2026. No vacancies. • Human Services Advisory Board: The next meeting is scheduled for December 4, 2025. 1 Resident position term expires March 31, 2026. 1 School District position term expires March 31, 2026. 1 Medical/Health position term expires March 31, 2026. No vacancies. VACANT: 1 Resident position and Student Representative. • Lodging Tax Advisory Committee: There will not be a meeting in December 2025. All positions are 1-year terms. VACANT: 1 Business Collecting Tax Representative & 1 Business Funded by Tax Representative. • Park Commission: The next meeting is scheduled for December 10, 2025. 2 Community position terms expire March 31, 2026. VACANT: 1 Community position and Student Representative. • Planning Commission: There will not be a meeting in December 2025. VACANT: 1 Business position and 1 Resident Position. IV. Date of Inquiry Inquiry Response August 4, 2025 November 3, 2025 Inquiries about city employee compensation were made in August and October. The City Administrator sent an email to City Council about these questions on November 25. There is a compensation study launching in early 2026 and a proposed revision to the city's compensation policy will be coming before Council F&G Committee in early 2026.
