The City of Tukwila is preparing a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) to evaluate an alternative for rerouting freight truck traffic away from streets in the Allentown neighborhood. The draft of the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS (is examining a new route for freight trucks that are currently using streets in Tukwila's Allentown neighborhood to access BNSF's South Seattle Multimodal Facility. The new route would use roads in Tukwila, Renton, and unincorporated King County. In 2026, the City will determine which of the truck reroute alternatives best achieves the project's objectives, and will then focus on next steps for planning, funding, and implementing the selected alternative. Tukwila has new minimum wage for 2026 On July i, 2025, the minimum wage for Mid -Size Employers in Tukwila rose to $2i.io per hour— matching the existing rate for Large Employers. This change concludes the phased -in wage increases for employers covered by the City's adopted ordinance. Employers must comply with the ordinance if they meet either of the following criteria: Have 15 or more employees worldwide (not just in Tukwila this includes businesses part of franchise networks, chain stores, restaurants, and similar businesses that operate under a single entity, OR —Generate over $2 million in annual gross revenue within Tukwila city limits.
