These advisory bodies provide guidance to decision -makers and represent the diverse viewpoints of the community, bringing public participation into government. Volunteers serve a vital function by offering their time and expertise as members. Throughout the year, the City shares a wide variety of events, activities, notices, and community updates with Tukwila residents. To reach as many people as possible, we use multiple communication channels — from printed materials to digital tools. As social media and online platforms continue to evolve, we are always looking for new and better ways to stay connected with our community. Effective communication is essential to strong community engagement, and we want to ensure we're meetingyour needs. That's why we're launching a short survey to learn how you prefer to receive information from the City. Do you read the Hazelnut? Are our social media channels where you get most of your updates? n Do you check our website for information? How do you usually learn about City projects, programs and services? City offices will be closed6 on Monday, January, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Foster Golf Links will be open Tukwila Community Center special hours: 8:ooAM to 12:00PM VVV Improving access to City laws -- new online Tukwila Municipal Code The City of Tukwila's Municipal Code (TMC (is the official compilation of City laws and regulations. Beginning with laws passed in s 88, ordinances and their amending updates are consolidated into this large reference document. To improve public access and ease of use, the previous online PDF version has been replaced with an interactive and user-friendly resource available online. You can see it at ecode36o.com/TU6 48. Some highlights of the increased functionality: Navigation: The dynamic Table of Contents helps navigate to your specific area of interest, moving with you to prevent getting lost in the code". For quick searches, you can use the search bar at the top of the screen. A new enhanced Index allows for subject -focused searches and is organized alphabetically. For example, if you have a question about chickens or roosters, you can navigate to the letter A," then to Animals" in the index to view all portions of the Code related to animals. Accessiblity: The online platform enables translation into more than 200 languages. You can quickly switch to the language of your choice using the Google Translate feature located at the bottom of the browser. This new format allows for greater ADA compliance with accessibility standards including sufficient color contrast, keyboard navigation, screen reader support, and more. You can easily share portions of the code by printing or emailing. Real time updates You can sign up for automatic notifications by email when the TMC or specific portions of the code are updated. A gavel icon shown next to a Title indicates a new law that has been passed but not yet incorporated into the Code. World Cup soccer will impact region The FIFA World Cup 26TM is coming to Seattle! The tournament, which is the world's largest spectator event, will take place from June ss to Julys 62026, with matches held in s6 host cities, including Seattle. Seattle will host matches on June s5, s 24, 26 and Julys and 6. All six matches will be played at Lumen Field. We expect hundreds of thousands of fans to visit our region over that three week period, which will benefit the local economy. LET'S SEA PLAY 26 Affected employers have new way to certify minimum wage compliance The Minimum Wage & Fair Access to Additional Work Hours Ordinance is the result of a citizen -led effort that voters approved in zozz and became law Julys, 2023. The wage rate is adjusted annually. Beginning )anuarys, the 2026 minimum wage will be $21.65. Employers covered by Tukwila's Minimum Wage Ordinance are required to certify their compliance with the law each year by January 3s. After listening to customer feedback, Tukwila has modernized its compliance certification process. The City now offers a new online portal for employers to complete their annual certification. Paper forms, which had to be physically mailed or emailed to our office, are no longer required —streamlining staff time and records management. This is free and quick for employers to use. You can access the Portal For Employer -Required Certifications on the Minimum Wage page at TukwilaWA.gov/MinimumWage.
