HomeMy WebLinkAbout1946-08-05 Regular MinutesAugust 5,1946 The regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Tukwila was called to order by the Mayor,J.P.Walkup, at 8 P.M. Councilmen present were A.W.Thies, A.R.Carstensen, Marvin Chelette and Elmer Wootan. The minutes of the regular meeting of July lst. were read and approved as read. The minutes of the special meeting of July 18 were read and approved as read. Current bills were read and upon motion ordered paid. July Lowman Hanford,5,000 envelopes,printed Seattle Water Dept.,service,June Lois T.Newton,salary expense,July 12.29 42.00 66.66 2.09 20.85 237.30 27.13 Upon motion Ordinance #167,an ordinance relating to town firemen and the death and disability provisions foie firemen and their families,was placed on its first reading. A letter from Geo.H.Shearer,Dist.Engineer of the State Dept.of Highways,was read. He stated the State would be able to take care of the necessary repair to the existing 24 -inch corrugated iron culvert crossing located under the highway at So.142d. street,if the Town so desires. He also furnished an estimate of the probable cost,a total of 1310.00 It was moved and carried that the Clerk draw up a resolution authorizing the state Auditor to withhold funds from monies due the Town of Tukwila from the Motor Vehicle Fund in suf- ficient amount to pay for this work. Roll call showed councilmen Thies, Carstensen, Chelette and Wootan voting yes on this motion, Resolution #60. It was moved and carried the Clerk write a letter to the Puget Sound Power Light Co. requesting them to remove an obstruction in the 3 foot culvert under the old Interurban Right of Way within the boundaries of the Town of Tukwila. Roll call showed councilmen Thies, Carstensen, Chelette and Wootan voting yes. The report of the Water dept,was read and placed on file. The Treas. report was read and accepted. Mr.Thies reported one building permit issued in July. It was moved and carried that the Mayor and Chairman of the Roads committee contact the County officials concerning the oiling of town roads. It was moved and carried that Fire Chief Jim North and the Mayor,J.P.Walkup, represent the Town at the Fire convent ion,to be held this month. It was moved and carried that $100.00 due School Dist. 406 for the property now called the Town Hall be paid. Meeting adjourned at 9 :20. aAe4,,,, Mays/ Clerk Treas. 253
