The regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Tukwila
was called to order by the Mayor, Chas. 0. Baker, at 8 P.M. Council-
men present were Stan Minkler, Joe Aliment,A.H.Heemink and B.P.Lutes
A letter of resignation from Marvin Chelette, councilman, was
read and upon motion accepted.
Upon motion, Vic North was elected to fill the unexpired term
of Mr. Chelette.
A letter from the State Highway Dept.,relative to concrete posts
was read. The Clerk was advised to write Superior Concrete Products
requesting prices of concrete posts suitable for two cables with im-
bedded reflectors, also price of posts using wood rail.
A letter from DeWitt C. Griffin Associates to the Seattle
as Co., relative to the mended pavement, was read. hu letter also
took up the matter of the pavement breaking on the cfrve. The Clerk
was instructed to write again to the Seattle Gas Co., stateing they
might either make a satisfactory repair or the Town would contact
the contractors who put in the original pavement, asking them to re-
pair the street and sent the bill to the Seattle Gas Co.
Meetings of Joint Fact finding Committees were announced. The
clerk was asked to request permission to meet at Auburn on Jan.22.
Ordinance NO. 173, an ordinance raising the salary of the
Water Superintendant., was placed, upon motion, on its second reading
by title only. Upon motion, ordinance No. 173 was placed on its
third reading and final passage.
Ordinance No. 174, an ordinance raising the salary of the
Street Superintendant, was upon motion, placed on its second read-
ing by title only. Upon motion, ordinance no. 174 was placed on its
third reading and final passage.
Current bills were read and upon motion ordered paid.

The Treasurer's report was read and accepted.
The report of the water dept. was read and placed on file.
Mr. Minkler reported two building permits issued in Dec.'47.

Ordinance 177, an ordinance establishing a Cmmulative
Reserve Fund for the Fire Dept., was placed,upon motion, on its
second reading by title only. Upon motion, ordinance 177 was
placed on its third reading and final passage.
Upon motion, ordinance 178, an ordinance revising section
7 of ordinance 128, was placed on its first reading.
Mr. John E. Van Amburgh, of the Sanitation Staff of the
King County Department of Health discussed with the Council some
of the problems of sanitation, explaining the County is ready to
assist and work with the Town in every way.
Upon motion, ordinance 179, an ordinance establishing A
Building Code, was placed on its first reading.
Upon motion meeting adjourned at 10 :30
