HomeMy WebLinkAbout1948-04-05 Regular MinutesApril 5,1948 The regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Tukwila was called to order by the Mayor, Chas. 0. Baker, at 8 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, Joe Aliment, A. H. Heemink, Vic North and B.P.Lutes. Mr. Stokes and Mr. Pollock each explained the insurance policies they had previously offered. It was moved and carried each submit a policy to be examined by the Council before a final decision is made. Mr. Banning, representing Pacific Tel.& Tel. Co. was present and discihssed with the Council the possible use of space on company poles for wires for Fire Dept. use. He would make no promises concerning a franchise or a business and occupation tax. It was moved and carried the Fire dept. be asked to make out a complete list of their needs in this respect and bring back a re- port to the next regular meeting. The minutes of the March 1 meeting were read and approved as read. The minutes of the Special meeting of March 12 were read and approved as corrected. Moved and carried the Mayor be sent to the Annual. Convention of the Association of Washington Cities to be held in Spokane May 20 and 21, his expenses to be allowed in an amount not to ex- ceed *op.00. 7 .210c, Current bills were read and upon motion ordered paid. The report of the Treasurer was read and upon motion, accept The report of the water dept. was read and placed on file. Mr. Minkler reported 4 building permits issued since the March meeting. The Town Marshall was asked to stop the man with the bull- dozer from tearing up the streets. It was moved and carried the services of Mr. I,Iannes be se- ed. Attention was called to the need of a street sign on 62 nd. street. Requests of Girl Scout Leaders to use the Park was discussed.. The date for the special meeting to receive and accept a Town Insurance policy was set for April 13 at 7 P.M. It was moved and carried to buy a pressure relief valve if the price exceeds 7 500.00 to advertise for bids immediately. The matter of the bulkhead in IMir. Durbin's yard was discussed. It was moved and carried to investigate further. It was moved and carried the clerk contact the County Commiss- ioners to find out if we can secure from them play equipment for the Park. The Clerk was asked to write Paul Braun of the Washington Survey and Rating Bureau to ascertain if it is required that a Volunteer Fire Dept. have at least one member a County Deputy Sheriff. The clerk was instructed to contact the County Engineer's department, asking the loan of an up to date map of the Town of Tukwila..
