HomeMy WebLinkAbout1948-09-07 Regular MinutesSeptember 7,1943 The regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Tukwila was called to order by the Mayor, Chas. O. Baker, at 8 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, Joe Aliment, A.H.Heemink, Vic North and Burton P. Lutes. The minutes of the meeting or August 2 were read and approved as read. The minutes of the Special meeting of August 10 were read and approved as read. The Clerk read a letter from Mrs. Madeline Lemere, Day Camp Coordinator of the King County Girl Scout Council, in which she thanked the Mayor and Council for allowing the use of Tukwila Park for a day camp. A letter relative to Mr. Durbin's bulkhead was read and upon motion placed on file. A letter from the Rivers and Harbors Committee of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce was read. Mr. Aliment was appointed the official representative of the Town of Tukwila to the Special Conference on Local Participation for the Green River Flood control Dam Project.. The Clerk read a letter and Resolution from the Board of County Commissioners of King County. The Resolution opposed the proposed Charter Amendment No.13, It was moved and carried the Town Council of Tukwila go on record as opposing this Charter Amendment No.13 and that a resolution we drawn up to this effect Current bills were read and upon motion ordered paid. The report of the water dept. was read and placed on file. Mr. Minkler reported 4 buildings issued in August. It was moved and carried the Town call for bids for a drying tower for fire hose. Bids to be received from local contractors and carpenters only and to be opened on October 4,1943. Mr. Aliment reported the proposed continuation of 57 S. to be impracticle and expensive., Mr. Fox was present and requested work be done on S.149th. 169 September 7, continued Two bids for a tractor were received and opened. The bid of Ivan Lee of 678.00 being the lower of the two bids ,was accepted, The bid of Clyde Equipment Co.was w2289.50. Ordinance 184,fixing the salary of Street Supt. was, upon motion placed on its second reading by title only. Ordinance 184 was, upon motion, placed on its third reading and final passage. Ordinance 185,regulating and licensing Dog kennels, was, upon motion, placed on its second reading by title only. Ordinance 185 was, upon motion, placed chn its third reading and final passage. Councilmen Lutes, Aliment and North were appointed a committee to check the drain spouts on the Town Hall and report their findings at the October meeting. Ordinance 136, the budget for the year 1949, was placed on its first reading, upon motion. It was moved and carried the Clerk draw up an ordinance, raising the monthly water rate to �2..25 Meeting adjourned at 10:05 Chas. O. Baker, Mayor Lois T. Newton,Ller 167
