HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-03-07 Regular MinutesMarch 7,1949 The regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Tukwila was called to order by the i;iayor, Chas. 0. Baker, at 3 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan. '::inkier, Joe Aliment, A.TT.:eemink, A.W.Thies and E.K.Sciford. The minutes of the meeting of February 7tr,. were read and approved as read. The petition of J.P.Walkup requesting the vacation of a portion of unimproved S. 152nd. Street lying between Lots C z:; 9 Interurban Addition to the City of Seattle, was heard. There being no objection to the petition for the vacation of the street 'mentioned above, Ordinance No.190, An Ordinance vacating certain portion of S. 152 St.,in the Town of Tukwila, was, upon motion, placed on its first reading.. A letter from John P,. walkup was read, requesting- the Town vacate that portion o&149th. Ave.-'S. dividing Lot 3 Interurban Addition to the City of Seattle. .-t was moved and carried a hearing be held in the Town Hall on April 4, at P.;;. A,petition with ten signatures was presented to the Council. The petition requested the removal of structures on property owned by Mr. Browning.. i;ir. Browning was present. He refused to select a representative to meet with others to comply with sec. 14 of Ordinance No. 179, the Building Code of the Town of Tukwila He said his lawyer would contact the Council Current bills were read and upon motion ordered paid. The report of the Water Dept. was read and placed on file. Mr. Minkler reported two builainr' permits issued in Feb. It was moved and carried the Town take over payment of the street light near the bus stop. The payment is ;23.0 :J per yr. It was moved and carried to take care of street work as needed. Speeding in the Town was discussed. Mebers of the Street committee were requested to repott back on progress in this matter. The Clerk was asked to contact the 'phone co. requesting they designatethe Town Fire 'phone as such on their board. To request also an extension to a residence in the Towri. Anderson, was upom motion, Mace on its first reading Upon motion, Ord.No. 191 was placed on its second reading, by title only. TTpon motion Ord. Jo.191 vas placed on its third reading and final passage. Ordinance :o. 192, an ordinance fixing the compensation of the Clerk- Traast,rer, was, upon motion, placed on its first reading.
