Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information about any of the following items. �. Intergovernmental Update • Sound Cities Association Mayors Meeting: Mayor McLeod participated in a Sound Cities Association Mayors meeting on May 12. • World Cup Tabletop Exercise: On May 13, Emergency Management facilitated an Emergency Operations Center tabletop exercise in preparation for World Cup with EOC staff from Puget Sound Fire and the cities of Covington, Kent, Maple Valley, Tukwila, and SeaTac. • Metropolitan Solid Waste Advisory Committee: On May 13 Public Works staff attended the monthly Metropolitan Solid Waste Advisory Committee, which includes King County and the cities within the County. • Sound Transit: Mayor McLeod and Director Miles had a monthly check -in with Sound Transit CEO Dow Constantine on May 13. On May 14, Mayor McLeod chaired a Sound Transit Finance & Audit Committee meeting and participated in a Sound Transit Executive Committee Special Meeting. • Cascade Water Alliance: On May 19 Mayor McLeod chaired the Cascade Water Alliance Finance & Intergovernmental Committee meeting. • Human Services Planners Meeting: Human Services staff attended monthly Human Services Planners meeting on May 20. • Foster High School Career and Technical Education Meeting: Economic Development staff participated in Foster High School's Career and Technical Education (CTE) quarterly meeting. • Mayor McLeod participated in a King County Flood Control District Advisory Board meeting on May 22. • Recycling Refunds Study: Public Works staff provided input to WA Department of Ecology on their Recycling Refunds Study. Tukwila City Hai t •6200 Sou / en Boa card Tukwila, A 9 2 800 #site: k A. 54 v City Administrator's Report May 26, 2026 Page 2 • Countertop Compost Containers for Tukwila School District: Public Works staff provided countertop compost containers for the Tukwila School District's staff lounges to increase accessibility to diverting food waste to the district compost cart. • WA State Recreation and Conservation Funding Board (RCFB): Parks and Recreation staff participated in the Technical Review opportunity with the scoring committee for the RCFB's Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program. This opportunity allowed staff to present the $1,000,000 grant application supporting the Crestview Park acquisition project. Staff plan to seek and identify potential partners for the project, including but not limited to Highline School District, Highline Water District, King County, and the Port of Seattle. II. Community Events • Highline College Spring Career Fair: Transportation Demand Management staff tabled at Highline College's Spring Career Fair on May 13 and provided transportation information, safety lights, and free youth ORCA cards, while promoting the college's student transit pass program. • Center for Multicultural Health Fair: On May 16 Transportation Demand Management staff tabled at Center for Multicultural Health Fair on a collaboration between the Burkina Faso community and the African Leaders Health Board. Transportation information and safety lights were provided at the event. • Puget Sound Training Center Job Fair: Transportation Demand Management staff tabled at a Puget Sound Training Center Job Fair on May 21 to promote the SKC Trips sustainable transportation rewards program and distribute ORCA cards and safety lights. III. Staff Updates Public Safety • K-Fest & World Cup Festival: On May 13 Interim Chief Eric Lund, Interim Deputy Chief Dale Rock and Commander Zack Anderson attended the K-Fest & World Cup Festival organized by the Greater Seattle Korean Association. • Homeless Outreach: The Special Emphasis Unit conducted homeless outreach and homeless camp cleanup around the City. • World Cup Planning: Tukwila Police continue to meet with the various stakeholders in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Discussions include the planning for emergency, safety, security and risks during the event. • Special Olympics Torch Run: The Special Olympics Torch Run will be held on May 29. Some officers will provide traffic control for the runners, while others will participate by running in the event themselves. Project Updates • Fort Dent Levee 2020 Repair: Construction by King County's contractor is expected to begin in late June or early July, pending the completion of the contracting process. Phone: 20-4 ' -1800 • Email: Mayo Tukw A.gov • Website; TkwlaWA.gov 55 City Administrator's Report May 26, 2026 Page 3 • Adopt -a -Road: As of May 21, 6 out of the 20 roads identified for the program are in various stages of adoption. • 42nd Ave Bridge Replacement Project: Environmental permitting processes continue to move forward but state and federal agencies are projecting extremely long review times at all levels. • Tukwila Urban Center Conveyance Inspections: Surface Water crews inspected 14 catch basins in the CBD, between May 13 and 14, with traffic control in place, to observe conditions in advance of an upcoming CBD-wide storm drain inspection project. This project is slated to be advertised in the second quarter of 2026. • Duwamish Hill Preserve Phase 3: This month, the City began working on the implementation of part of this project, with EarthCorps clearing large areas of blackberries in the newly acquired sites. • S 104th St. Shoreline Restoration: The consulting team will be visiting the site at a low tide stage during the week of June 1 as part of their preliminary geotechnical evaluation of the condition of this steep section of armored shoreline. • New Park System Map Guide: A new park system map guide has been published and available for the community. The colorful new map brochure is a collaboration between TIS, King County GIS, and Tukwila Parks and Recreation. The brochure provides high -resolution imagery of Tukwila and surrounding areas, noting park and recreation amenities, parks, trails, facilities, and more. Maps are available at City Hall, DCD permit counter, TCC, Justice Center, and Foster Golf Links. Employee Service Anniversaries Thank you to our City staff for their service to the Tukwila Community. Responses to Council/Community Inquiries Date of Inquiry Inquiry Response April 6, 2026 Percentage of students enrolled in post- secondary education between 2024 and 2025 From TSD Counseling staff: Tukwila Promise allowed more students to view college as a reality, with a major increase in overall college enrollment rates from 2024 to 2025. From Senior Survey data, Class of 2024: 92/184 (50%) were admitted and intended to enroll in a college/university for Fall 2024-25. Class of 2025: 141/212 (66.5%) were admitted and intended to enroll in a college/university for Fall 2025-26. Class of 2026: Highline partners have seen 60+ current Seniors fill out their enrollment form to enroll in Highline; work is underway to include new Renton Tech (RTC) and Seattle Colleges (South/Central/North) partners in the Promise program. The number of graduates attending a 2-year college increased 54%, from 37 in 2024 to 57 in 2025. Tukwila Promise helped with a major increase in Highline's enrollment overall from 18 to 41, with 2025 graduates overwhelmingly shifting their preferred college to Highline. April 6 Similarities and differences between PSRFA FD Cares and Tukwila PD Mental Health Co -Responder program services City Administrator emailed Council on April 30. April 13 Questions about detention facilities moratorium (later Ordinance 2782) DCD Director Gierloff, together with the City Attorney, sent responses to six questions on May 15 via Council email.
