AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING OF VENDING MACHINES IN
THE CITY OF TUKWILA PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION
THEREOF AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND REPEALING ANY FORMER
ORDINANCE OR ORDINANCES THAT MAY BE IN CONFLICT HEREWITH
Section 1, That for the purnoee of this ordinance the word
vending machine shall be held, underetood and con-
strued to mean any automatic machine thr device whereby a person
deposits a coin and in return receives theeefore any article
of merchandise of any kind or character.
Section 2. It snail be unlawful for any person, fir or coreor-
ation to own, maintain or operate are, vending filachine
on or about his eremises or at any place within the corporate
limits of the town of Tukwila without first having secured and
paid for a license for each and every vending fdachine so owned,
maintained er oeerated.
Section 3. Said license shall be obtained from the Town Clerk
after application therefor has been made to the Town
Coun=cii and said. Council has granted per.lission to such aeeiicant
for the holding of such licenee. The granting of said license
shall be wholly discretionary with the Ton Council. aid licence
to oe attached to said machine for which it is issued and so
)laced that it meet be clearly observed by any pereon oeerating
said machine.
Section 4. Any license issued between January first and July
first of any year shall lie for the period of one
year and shall be paid for at the rate herein fixed fer yearly
license.
Section 5. Any license issued between July first and 7)ecember
thirty-first of any year shall be for a six months period and
for such eeriod the license shall pay at the rate of sixty per
cent of the annual license fee as herein provided.
All licenses issued under the provisions of this
ordinance-snail expire on 1ecember thirty-first of the year of
issue.
Section 6. For the pureose of this ordinance all ve Tea-
chines shall be claseified in tIrro zroups.
The first group or claseificatior shall include
cent fruit vending machines, 1 cent match vendi Np,chinea,
1 cent peanut vending machines, 1 cent candy vend:ng iaciines,
and 1 cent chewing gum vending machines, and the annual
license fee shall be $5.00 per year each.
The second group or classification snail inciJo_e aii
other vending machines and the license fee shall be $60.00

has been authorized by the Town council, the said Town Council
at its option may provide that the license of those a e
which fail into the second group and classification p?.y pay for
such license on a iion;;.Zly basis at the rate of $5.00
in advance for each machine per month.
Section 7. Any person violating any of the provisions of this
ordinance shall upon conviction thereof be .unished
by a fine of not less than nor more than $100.00
or by a sentence of not lore than
thirty days in the Town Jail or by both such fine and iii )rison-
ment in the discretion of the Court.
