AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF STREET
SUPERINTENDENT IN THE TOWN OF TUKWILA, DESIGNATING
HIS DUTIES, AND PROVIDING FOR HIS
COMPENSATION.
Be it ordained by the Town Council of the Town of Tukwila,
a Municipal Corporation of the Fourth Class, incorporated
and existing under and by virtue of the laws of the State
Washington:
Section 1. There is hereby created in the Town of Tukwila the
Office of Street Superintendent.
The duties of said Street Superintendent shall be
and are a general supervision of the Streets, Alleys
and Sidewalks within the Town of Tukwila, to maintain
said streets and sidewalks in such condition at all
times as to make them safe, passable and convenient
for vehicular traffic and for pedestrians, and to keep
and maintain said alleys free from objectionable
refuse and obstructiions, and generally with a view to
observing the laws of sanitation and preserving public
health and welfare.
Section 3. The said Street Superintendent shall be under the
direction of the Mayor and Street Comtittee, Provided,
however, that in case of emergency he shall be empow-
ered to act within his own discretion, and further
provided that he shall not expend to exceed the sum
of Twenty Dollars ($50.00) without sanction of the
Street Committee in such emergency.
Section 4. The Street Superintendent shall receive as compensa-
tion for his services as such Supertendent the sum
of Ten Dollars ($10.00) for each calendar month while
employed.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall be and become effective on and
after days from the date of its passage and
publication.
Passed in Open Session of the Town Council and signed by
me in authentication of its passage this day of 1933
