Jones, repair meters March 5, 1956 The regular meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to order by the Mayor, Chas. 0. Baker, at 8 p.m. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A.W.Thies, Rudolf Hegel, A.G.Radford and Melvin Watkins. Wynn Anderson, Councilman elect, was invited to sit at the Council table. Mayor Baker opened the meeting by calling attention to the fact that Darwin A. Dibble, at one time Police Judge of the Town, had recently passed away. He asked the Council and those present to join with him in observing a moment of silence, in memory of Mr. Dibble. Mr. Minkler moved the odoption of Res. No. 101, a memorial to Mr. Dibble, which motion was carried. The petition of the Directors of School Dist.- 486 that;.LthtLeon.e tinuttiohaaf')59th. Ave. S. through property recently acquired by the School Dist. be abandoned was presented. There being not objection to this petition the Council assured Mr. Donald Cady, who was present, that an ordinance covering this matter would be passed. The minutes of the meeting of Feb. 6 were read and approved as read. Current bills were read and, upon motion, ordered paid Current Expense Pac. Tel.& Tel. Co., phone fire dept. Mr. â–ºdinkler reported 2 building permits issued in Feb. Mr. Baker read a copy of the minutes of the pie Ling of the Board of County Commissioners of Feb. 9, 1956 regarding the Black River Dam. It mentioned the letter from Mr. Baker, as Mayor of Tukwila, and stated he was opposed to building the dam unless assurance could be given that additional floods would not result from this dam. Mr. Zepp reported that he and Mr. Connell attended this meeting and spoke. March 5, 1956(continued) Mr. Radford reported that he, Mr; Zepp and Mrs. Newton attended the Hearing din Superior Court on Feb. 27 regarding a transfer of 25 feet of the west side of the new Tukwila School site for street purposes. There was no objection to the petition and the request was granted. It was moved and carried a deed be secured. Mr. Minkler suggested we prepare a copy of highlights of the minutes to send out each month. Mrs. Dahl and Mrs. Pipal, offered to hetp the Clerk. The report of the Police dept was read and placed on file. Mr. Regel reported that his committee had considered the request of the Sportsmen's Club that they,be allowed to erect a building in Tukwila Park and had decided this could not be allowed since the Park site is tax free property and no group could be legally permitted.to put up such a building there. It was suggested Mr. Baker send them a letter stating this conclusion. Ordinance 234 regarding the abandonment of the continuation of 59th. Ave. So. through school property, was, by motion, placed on its first reading. By motion, Res. 102, accepting the continuation of S. 53th. St. through Tri -Vista Terrace, the alleys, water mains and hydrants, was adopted.. It was requested we inquire at the office of the County Treasurer as to the reason why this year there is no list of the breakdown of tax statement. Mr. Baker stated that Census of the Town would be taken before April lst. Meeting adjourned at 10 p.m. Chas. 0. Baker, Mayor 7' Lois T. Newton, Clerk 151
