Baker, at 3 p.m. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, August Thies, 1 Ludolf Hegel, A.G.Radford and Melvin Watkins. Wynn Anderson, Councilman elect, also sat at the Council table. 163 The minutes of the meeting of flay 7 were read and approved as read. Current bills were read and upon motion ordered paid. The report of the viater'vdept. was read and placed on file. Mr. Minkler reported 4 building permits issued in May. Mr. Harrison, Director of the School Board, asked the Council if they could meet on June 18 to talk over, with the School Board, matters pertaing to the School district. It was agreed this could be done. June 4, 1956(continued) Ordinance No. 235, accepting the deed from So. Central School Dist. No.406, for street purposes, was placed, by motion, on its 2nd. reading, by title only. Ord.No. 235 was, by rnotmon, placed on its 3rd. reading and final passage. A hearing was held on petitions to vacate portions of S. 141st. street between 55th. Ave. S. and 56th. Ave. S. There being no object- ions Ord. No. 237, vacating this street was, by motion, placed on its 1st. reading. There being no further old business the meeting was declared adjourned sine die. Mayor Baker then called the meeting to,order and administered the oath of office to the newly elected Councilmen; Stan Minkler, A.G. Radford and Wynn Anderson. Mayor Baker paid high tribute to Mr. August Thies who had served the Town for almost 30 years and who did not desire reelection as Councilman. By motion Res. No. 103, in which the Council thanked Mr. Thies for his faithful service, was adopted. Mr. Minkler pre- sented Mr. Thies with a copy of the resolution and a gift from the Council, of a pen and pencil set. Mr. Thies responded with a few words of thanks. Meeting adjourned'at 9:30, after which coffee and cake was served. Ord. 236, an ordiannce regarding powers of the r'ire Chief and contrtls at the scene of a fire, was, upon motion, placed on its first reading. 7 165
