HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-05-06 Regular MinutesMay 6, 1957 The regular meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to order by the Mayor Chas. 0. Baker at 3 p.m. Councilmen present were Stan kinkier, Rudolf Hegel, A.G.Radford, Melvin Watkins and Wynn Anderson. The minutes of the meeting of April 1 were read and approved as read. A letter from Nick Heinz, Town Marshal,was read in which he called attention to two vacant buildings in Town and declared them a hazard, especially to children and a public nuisance. The Council recommended we cantact our attorney and remove the hazard, if possible. The Clerk read a thank you note from Mrs. Chas. Baker, wife of our Mayor, in which she thanked members of the Council for a plant they sent to her while she was in the hospital.. Current bills were read and upon motion ordered paid. Mr. Minkler reported 6 building permits issued in April. A letter from the Library "oard was read. It suggested a possibil- ity that all Tukwila residents might be denied the library privileges unless the Town helped bear the financial burden. iur. Baker appoint- ed Mr. Radford and Mr. Bergstrom to meet with the local board and bring back a report. 193 Mrs.Drew reported on progress on work in the Park and discussed the proposed fence. It was moved and carried to call for estimates for street work to be done during the summer. Resolution #104 was by motion adopted. This is a 5 year contract with the Puget wound Power Light Co. for one street light. Mayor Baker announced that we are entering our 50th. year as an incorporated Town and that during this year we will recall the progress and highlights of the past 50 years. He also announced a Special meeting for Wed. May 3, at 3 p.r1. to consider a petLtioperecently presented to the Louncil, and a work meeting for May 20. Meeting adjourned at 9 :45.
