HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-10-07 Regular MinutesOctober 7, 1957 The regular meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to order by the Mayor, Chas. C. Baker, at 3 p.m. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A.G.Radford, Melvin Watkins and Wynn kinderson. The minutes of the regular meeting of September 3, recessed to Sept. 10, recessed to Sept. 16 and concluded on sept. 23rd were read and approved as corrected. Mr. Baker commended the Annexation Committee for their diligence and stated they were moving forward on the annexation of the area to the south of Town. The report of the Water dept. was read and placed on file. Mr. iviinkler reported 2 1 Juilding permits issued in Sept. Mr. Anderson reported the opeb wells south of S. 152nd had been filled. Mr. xnderson reported he had attended a meeting of the committee studying the Metro Plan. They were urging each Town to adopt a reso- lution approving the Plan. Mr. Aliment, Fire Chief reported that due to an accident, the Fire truck would need repairs immediately and the Fire dept. must pay the 4 deductible. Since this amount was not included in the budget for 1957 it was moved and carried the Clerk prepare an ordinance, declaring an emergency and placing x Current Expense funds in the Fire dept. funds for this expenditure. Mr. baker read a letter from the City of Auburn outlining the pro posed agreement between Auburn and Tukwila in which, for a fee of w10.00 per month Tukwila may have the use of the Auburn Dog Pound and an Officinal car. Mr. Heinz is to meet with Auburn Officials to discuss other fees. Ordinance No. 243, the budget for 1953, was, by motion, placed on its 2nd. reading, by title only. Upon motion Ordinance No. 243 was placed on its 3rd reading and final passage. Mr. Bergstrom brought up the matter of the note sent out the first of the month regarding Library service. He pointed out that it pre- sented only one side of the question. it was agreed this was not a fair presentation. Mr. Rowley complained of rubbish under a garage next to his property, Mr. Baker instructed the Health Sanitation committee to investigate and bring back a report. He suggested the Fire dept, also look into the matter. Mr. Baker announced a work meeting on Oct. 21. He requested the Clerk to invite Mr. Walter Kassner to this meeting to talk over the Street Lighting program. Mr. Bergstrom, Secy. of the Planning Commission,r.equested a meeting of the Commission and the Town Council. October 10 th was agreed upon and Mr. Baker announced a special meeting for that date to review the findings of the Planning Commission and discuss the Metro Resolution. Mr. Baker announced a Special meeting for Oct. 16, at 3 P.M. at which time the Council will meet with Officials of the Port of Seattle and Mr. Seibert of Public itelations.
