HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-11-18 Special Minutes November 18, 1957 The recessed meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to odder by the Mayor, Chas. 0. Baker, at 8 p.m. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, Rudolf Regel, A.G.Radford, Melvin Watkins and Wynn Anderson. Nick Heinz, Town Marshal, introduced Mr. Hitchcock, member of the Auburn City Council, who explained how Auburn controlled the dog problem. Mr. Decker had been chosen to pick up stray dogs or dogs without a license and his services were available to other towns. Mr. Baker stressed the daeti_that every dog must have a license. He thanked Mr. Hitchcock and Mr. Decker for coming to talk with the Council re- garding this matter. Mr. Baker introduced "Jr. Kassner, who is heading up the Street Light- ing Project. Mr. Kassner in turn introduced Mr. Carkeek of Puget, Sound Power Light Co. The discusstob brought out the fact that 150 watt open reflector lights mounted on company poles will cost the Town about $23.00 per year per light. The thought was to install the first lights on 58th. Ave. S. There was some objection to installing on 58th. only. It was moved and carried that Puget Sound Power w Light Co. be authorized to survey along 58th Ave. S. from Interurban Ave. S. to S. 147th. and on S. 144th Frmm 59th.Ave. S. to 53rd. S. and bring back results for the approval of Council, as to number of lights required. Meeting adjourned at 10:25. November 18, 1957 (continued) 237 by motion Ordinance No. 247, the annexation ordinance, was /placed on its second reading by title only. Ordinance No. 247 was, upon motion, placed on its third reading and final passage. Ordinance No. 248, an emergency ordinance for the Street Dept., was, upon motion placed on its first reading. Upon motion, ord.# 248 was placed on its second reading by title only. Upon motion ord.# 248 was placed on its third reading and final passage. Mr. Baker appointed Mr. Anderson, Hegel and Heinz to look for the need of signs in the newly annexed area. The Mayor appointed Mr. Diinkler, Radford.
