HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-04-07 Regular MinutesApril 7, 1958 The regular meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to order by the Mayor, Chas. G. Baker, at 3 p. m. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, £Ludolf hegel, A. G. Radford and Melvin Watkins. The minutes of the meeting of March 3 and March 17 were read and approved as read. The report of the Treasurer was read and accepted. The report of the Water Dept. was read and placed on file. Mr. Minkler reported 7 building permits issued in ivlarch. Wm. Aliment, Fire Chief, reported the Easter Egg Hunt and Party was a success. Mr. Laker congratulated the .Lire Plept. on this event. Current bills were read and upon motion ordered paid. "otion carried. Mr. Minkler reported on the Nelson Water .ystem. They offer to pay for the tie in to Seattle Water with Tukwila repaying them in four payments. Mayor Baker reported on the census, showing the population of the town 1525 as of April 1st. he commended Wynn Anderson, Chairman and his wife who took a very careful and thorough canvass of the town. tte requested the Clerk to send them a letter of appreciation and thanks. Mr. Minkler reported he was still working on the franchise with Seattle City might. Mr. Baker reported various measures were under consideration to peplace the defettdd Metro Plan. It was the opinion tne problem of pollution should be considered by itself. At the suggestion of the Association of vvashington Cities Mayor Baker appointed Stan Minkler, John B. Strander and Robert Kelly to represent the Town of Tukwila on a "egislative committee. A letter from the Tukwila PI ,anning Commission was read. This letter stated that on March 20, 1958 a hearing was held to consider the zon- ing of land recently annexed to Tukwila and further described. At this hearing members of the Planning commission adtpted the following besolution: "The Tukwila Planning Commission recommends to the Tukwila Town Council that the afore- described property be zoned M -2." Mr. Minkler moved that the recommendation of the Planning Commission be considered, that the request of the property owners be grabted and the property Abe zoned as reques.edeconded by 11 r. ttegel and carried. Mr. Baker appointed Mr. H. M. Graves of 15625 -57th Ave. 80. to the Tukwila Planning L'ommission, his term to expire on January 2, 1961. It was moved by Mr. Radford and seconded by Dir. Guatkins that the `'ouncil approve this appointment, motion carried. It was stated additional copies of urd. No. 251 would be needed. It etas moved and carried 100 copies be bought. The Clerk was requested to prepare an ordinance regarding vacating streets. Meeting recessed to meet on Monday, April 21, at 3 P.M. 277
