HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-12-15 Adjourned Minutes Current Expense The Lumber Market, materials for police garage John Graham Co., prints December 15, 1958 was called to order present were Stan The recessed meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to order by the Mayor, Chas. 0. baker, at 3 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, L.R. Frese, A.G. Radford, Wynn Anderson. Mr. Don Pollock discussed with the Council the insurance coverage of two bridges in town. It was moved and carried to take out insurance covering one half the Orillia bridge and the Foster bridge, as of Jan. 1, 1959. At 8 :45 the request by Mr. Radford that he be excused, was granted. The following bills were presented and upon motion ordered paid. 1;298.22 21.27 Water Fund Jodie Wells, labor Dec. 156.40 21 December 15, 1953(continued) The resignation of Nick Heinz, Town viarshal was read, to take effect December 31, 1953. It was moved and carried the resignation be accepted and the Clerk draw up a resolution, thEinking Mr. Heinz for his years of faithful service. This action was necessary be- cause the town has need of a full time Police Chief and Town Marshall which office Mr. Heinz is not able to hold. Mayor Baker then appointed Mr. Earle Parker as full time Marshal to take office on Januaay 1, 1960 at the salary set up in the budget. This appointment was approved, by motion, by the Council. Mr. baker administered the oath of office to Mr. Parker. Mr. Baker appointed to the Tukwila Planning Commission, Mr. John Strander and Mr. Robt. Kelly, whose terms of office expire on Jan. 2, 1959, to a six year term to expire on January 2, 1965. These appointments were by motion, approved. Mr. Frese presented a preliminary draft of an ordinance regarding Sub divisions, for the study by the Council. Ordinance No. 266, revising our Trailer ordinance, was, by motion, placed on its first reading. Mr. Baker drew attention to the accomplishments of 1953. The high- lights were The annexation of the Codiga area, the Liston property and the Desimone property. Adoption of new Building Code. Celebration of the 50th Jubilee Year of Tukwila. Adoption of Franchise with Seattle City Light. Purchase of Independent G'iater System. Installation of Street Lights., Largest year of building in history of Tukwila, Beginning of improvements in newly annexed area of town, Joined by two new Councilmen. Mr. Baker complimented the Council members on their untiring efforts which made these accomplishments possible and wished every one a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
