HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-06-22 Adjourned Minutes June 22, 1959 The recessed meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to order by the mayor, Chas. O. Baker, at 3 PM Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, Wynn Anderson, R. K. Doyle and L. Frese. Mr. Baker appointed Miss Helen ivelsen a :nenber of the Tukwila Planning Commission, ner term of office to expire on January 2, 1963. Mr. Minkler moved the Council approve this appointment, seconded and carried. Mr. baker reviewed recent events,namely the Supreme Court decision on the tax payers' suit which ruled the Port of Seattle coula not condemn land to hold or sell for industrial purposes. ;fe said the town and tie alley will now move ahead under private development. re said,e (being arranged with Rent and anticipated an industrial Commission would be set up. As an aid to this program he appointed Mr. Doyle and Mr. Ives a committee on Publicity. There was soine discussion of the need to replace the water main running through the Monster property, east of the town limits. A letter was noted in which the Tukwila Planning Commission recommended that the Tukwila Town Council extend the Tukwila Compre- hensive Zoning Plan into the area annexed and described in town Ord. No. 276 and that a zone of M -1, be placed on it. Mr. Minkler moved the Council accept the recommendation of the Planning Commission aria that the town extend the Tukwila Comprehensive Zoning Plan into the area annexed by Ord. No. 276 and that a zone of M -1 be placed on it. Jeconded and carried. The Clerk was asked to draw up an orainance to this effect. 'une 22, 1959(continued) A communication from the 13 1annin commission stated said Planning Commission recommended the Tukwila Poem council rezone the h. W. Addition in its entirtty and Tract 17 of the Interurban Addition, .all located within the corporate limits of the Town of Tukwila, from R -3 zone to R -112.0 zone, as described in Tukwila ordinance jvo. 251. Mr. Frese moved that the Council accept the recommendation of the Planning Commission and that the M. W. Addition and Tract 17 of the Interurban Addition be rezone- from R -3 zone to R -1 -12.0 zone and that an ordinance be drawn up to this effect,secunded and carried. The condition of the bridge at S. 1_Oth .1)t was discussed. lvlinkler moved the bridge be posted limiting the load limit on the bridge to not exceed 15 Ton, seconded and.carried. John Dobson, Town Attorney, answered queries presented by property owners regarding extension of water mains south of So. 154th. They discussed the area to be served, the manner of financing the proposed extension and other pertinent matters. Meeting recessed at 9:20 to meet on June ;9 at 7:3O P.M.
