August 10, 1959
The recessed meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to
order by the Mayor, Charles Q. baker, at 7 :30 P.M. Councilmen present
were Stan alinkler, Wynn Anderson and L. R. Frese.
Mr. Zepp reported on Items for Street Improvement as submitted by
Rainier Asphalt Paving Company in their bid presented at the Aug. 3rd
meeting. Mr. Frese moved the bid of the said company be accepted as
follows: that items 1, 2 and 3 be accepted in their entirety, that
item 4 be deleted and item 5 temporarily tabled, seconded and carried.
At 8 P.M. a Public Hearing was conducted on a recommendation of the
Tukwila Planning Commission that the M. W. Addition and Tract 17,
interurban Addition be rezoned from R -3 zone to A-1 -12.0 zone.
Mr. Baker read the publication of Public Hearing appearing in the
Seattle Times. Mr. John btrander, Chairman of the Tukwila Planning
Commission clarified the position of said Lbomunission. He stated that
since the T.I. W. Addition had become an area of one family homes it
seemed feasible to rezone. Opposition to this zoning had led to the
decision to table the proposal.
Mr. George Drew, who owns a large portion of property involved,
spoke in favor of leaving the area as it now is.
Mr. kinkier moved the petition for rezoning be rejected, Mr. t''rese
seconded the motion. Roll call showed mr, minkler voting to reject,
iir. Frese voting to reject and mr. Anderson voting to reject the zoning.
Motion carried.
Mr. Richard bowen, hairman of the Annexation committee, presented
a petition for annexation of a small area south of the original town,
and recommended it be accepted.
Mr. Minkler moved the Council find to its satisfaction that the
petition titled with the Council complies with the requirements of law
August 10, 1959(continued)

and that the petition be accepted; that August 27, 1959, at 8 P.M.,
in the Council Chambers of the Town Hall, be set as the time and place for f
for a Hearing thereon, and that the Clerk be instructed to publish a
notice of said hearing as provided by law. Motion seconded and carried.
Meeting recessed at 9:40 to meet on August 27th at 8 P.M.
NOTICE TO DIRECTORS
10 August 1959
The Board of Directors of the Valley Industrial Commission
will meet one week early to work up a proposed slate of permanent
officers to present at the next regular meeting.
Board of Directors meeting: Monday evening, 8:00 P. M.
17 August 1959 in the Kent City Hall.
(The next regular meeting of the entire commission will be
Monday evening, 8:00 P. M., 24 August 1959 in the Renton
City Hall.)
