In the absence of Mayor Charles O. Laker, Mr. :tan Minkler,
President of the Town Council, called the meeting to order at
8 p.m. Councilmen present were A. G. Radford, Flynn Anderson, L. R.
Frese and R. K. Doyle.
Mr. Patrick W. McCartney made a request for permission to hold
a duck shoot on property south of South 154th. 1 1e represented a
Shooting Club. Mr. Minkler appointed Mr. Frese, 1VIr. Anderson and Mr
Doyle to investigate and bring back a report on Sept. 21st.
Mr. Frese moved that ordinance No. 236 amending the budget for
1959, be placed on its second reading, seconded and carried. Mr.
Frese moved that ordinance 286 be placed on its third reading
and final passage, seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried.
Mr. Frese moved that ordinance No. 291 revising Ordinance No. 268
the salary ordinance for 1959, be placed on its first reading,
seconded by mr. Anderson and carried.
K letter from mr. Shuman of 14726 57th South was read, in which
he expressed disapproval of the manner in which the street in front
of his home had been improved. Ivlayor baker's reply was also read.
There was some discussion.
A letter from mrs. Bassani was read. she desires to have the
State Highway l'epartmnet or the town take care of a condition in
front of her residence.
The Council took up the problem of the danger of a slide on
54th Avenue South where contractors are excavating. Mr. Minkler
moved we request 'Miayor Baker to inform those responsible that there
is danger of such a slide, seconded by Mr. Doyle and carried.
Mr. Radford moved we request South oenter Corporation to establish
their property line bordering 54th Avenue South, seconded by Mr. Doyle
and carried.
A letter from the Army Engineers suggested they might help in our
rtiier..improvemnet. Mr. Doyle was appointed to investigate
possibility. Mr. Radford moved that action taken on September 5th,
to receive bids on rip rapping along the river, be rescinded, seconded
by Mr. Anderson and carried.
Meeting recessed at 9 :45 to meet on September 21, at 8 P.M.
