VALLEY INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION
The meeting of October 26, 1959 was called to order at 8:00 p.m. at the
Foster Golf Course Club House, by Vice Chairman John Strander. Members
and directors were present as per the attached register.
Mayor Baxter extended an invitation to the commission to use the Renton
City Hall for the next meeting on November 23, 1959. The secretary was
instructed to send invitations to the councilmen and the planning com-
mission of each of the cities to attend this meeting.
A letter from P. J. McKay, district engineer, was read, accepting the
commission's invitation to discuss the highway problems at our next
meeting. A letter from the Associated Improvement Clubs was read, re-
questing membership in the commission and the secretary was instructed
to advise them that our by -laws had not been adopted and we would keep
them posted. A letter from the City of Kent was read, explaining the
city's position in connection with the Valley Freeway.
It was moved and seconded to give authorization to the secretary treasurer
to open an account with the Peoples National Bank of Washington, Kent
branch. This was amended to authorize either the treasurer or the chair-
man to sign the checks. Both carried.
Bob Scarff was introduced by Vice Chairman John Strander and Mr. Scarff
gave an interesting talk on the progress made by the Valley Freeway
Association and hoped that we would be able to assist in furthering the
needed progress for the highway improvements in the area of the com-
mission.
Mr. John Strander read a resolution adopted by the Tukwila City Council,
giving their stand on problems in connection with the East -West freeway.
Respectfully submitted,
Donald Bell, Jr.
Secretary
